This decision potentially reopens DACA applications for first-time applicants for the first time in years.
The Trump administration hasn’t issued official guidance, and no new applications have been processed yet. With so much uncertainty, we currently advise our community to speak with a lawyer or accredited legal service provider if you need support.
Ever since all first-time DACA applications were barred from being processed, immigrant youth and our allies have fought to defend our siblings, friends, and loved ones across the country who were left without protection from deportation. Yesterday’s development should be life-changing news for thousands of immigrants. However, we cannot trust Trump's Administration to follow the law and do the right thing.
We are under no illusions. Donald Trump will continue with his agenda to target as many people as possible with mass abductions and indefinite detention. We cannot deny the current administration’s ability to access and abuse personal data to target and detain DACA applicants — as well as the possibility that Trump could end DACA at any time.
Team, the fight to protect our communities is not just taking place in the courts. It’s in the streets and will require all of us, immigrants and allies alike, to take action and secure a clear pathway to citizenship.
Whatever comes next, we’re ready to mobilize in defense of our communities because we are here to stay. We will continue to update you as things change, but if you want to support our fight, please chip in any amount today:
