On Tuesday morning, I was on The View. If you didn’t get the chance to watch, you can catch it here.
During the conversation, I talked about how Democrats need to be ruthless about what we prioritize: we can’t stand for everything because then we stand for nothing.
This last election, the American people made it clear that they are not happy with the status quo, but there’s a reasonable way and a reckless way to create change.
Donald Trump is looking, in all the couch cushions, for $6 trillion so that he can rewrite the tax code and give a real big benefit to some of the wealthiest in our country. And he’s going to make you pay in every part of your life - including your Social Security and Medicare.
The hosts asked me what my top priority is, and it’s a no-brainer for me: the economy.
If people can’t afford the summer camp for their kids or to go on a vacation, they are less generous with their neighbors and it causes a feeling of desperation. That’s why, for me, the solid American Dream is still what we should all be working on.
Most Americans want economic security, they want to be safe in their own homes, and they want to know that the country they believe in and the democracy we believe in will be there for our kids.
I do what I do every day because I believe this is the best country in the world and we need to stand up for it.
