John, it’s happening: Donald Trump is dismantling the Department of Education.

Alongside billionaire Elon Musk, Trump has devoted the first months of his term to taking a chainsaw to our country’s most crucial institutions – and now, they’re taking a wrecking ball to yet another, as nearly HALF of the Department of Education’s workforce is expected to be eliminated.

Trump doesn’t legally have the power to abolish the Department – but that hasn’t stopped him yet.

Experts say that this decision would leave BILLIONS of dollars hanging in the balance, and disproportionately impact students most in need across the country – like students with disabilities, and those from low-income families receiving a Pell Grant to go to college.

Democratic governors are not standing for this assault on education – Gov. JB Pritzker called it cruel, and Gov. Tony Evers even said it’s “bullshit!” But they need you to stand with them, John.
