Dear Mr. xxxxxx,
I wanted to pass along my latest update on what I have been doing to fight for you, Texas’ 21st Congressional District, and our country as a whole:
Continuing Resolution
I'm not a huge fan of the kick the can down the road continuing resolution as the best form of government, but what I do believe is that you've got to figure out how to empower President Trump and Elon to continue to keep the lights on, to carry out DOGE, to identify the cuts and the waste that we've been identifying in a mere six weeks.
This is a win to keep the lights on for six months for Elon. The Democrats have threatened to shut down so they can stop Elon. It's the most fiscally responsible thing we can do at this moment.
Deportation Compliance Act
I am proud to have introduced H.R. 1953, the Deportation Compliance Act, a critical bill cosponsored by 13 of my Republican colleagues to support President Trump's deportation orders. This legislation ensures that countries that refuse to accept their deported citizens face the consequences. Under my bill, any uncooperative government will lose foreign aid funding 6 months after visa sanctions have been applied. This measure sends a clear message: the United States will not tolerate foreign governments obstructing our laws.
In July 2024, I asked the Biden Administration for a list of these ‘recalcitrant’ countries. I got no response. The number is at least 15, including China, Cuba, and Iran. President Trump has pressured certain governments to comply and accept their citizens, but America has faced resistance in the past and may again in the future.
ICC Out of NYC Act
The International Criminal Court (ICC) is a syndicate of corrupt globalists that use American taxpayer dollars to attack our nation as well as our close ally, Israel. The ICC has arrogantly and unjustly claimed jurisdiction over U.S. citizens and launched investigations probing them. Recently, the ICC has issued arrest warrants against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Former Minister of Defense Yoav Gallant for defending their nation against terrorists. This must stop.
This week, I introduced H.R. 1839, the ICC Out of NYC Act, to forbid United Nations properties in New York City from being used, leased, or occupied by representatives or employees of the ICC for fighting America and her allies.
State of the Union
Last week, I attended the State of the Union along with my guest, Lieutenant Chris Olivarez, spokesperson for the Texas Department for Public Safety. If you missed it, here were some highlights:
● President Trump announced that the U.S. will leave the World Health Organization and United Nations Human Rights Council. I’ve introduced bills that would make these changes permanent with H.R. 401, No Taxpayer Funding for the World Health Organization Act, and H.R. 400, the No Taxpayer funding for United Nations Human Rights Council Act.
● President Trump touted the passage of the Laken Riley Act in Congress, which gives the President the authority to detain illegal immigrants admitting to, charged with, or convicted of serious crimes.
● President Trump established the Jocelyn Nungaray National Wildlife Refuge in honor of Jocelyn Nungaray, a beautiful 12-year-old little girl who was murdered at the hands of illegal migrants.
● President Trump praised RFK Jr. for advancing causes to make America healthy again.
● President Trump announced that Mexican drug cartels are now designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations. Since 2019, I’ve introduced a bill to that would make this permanent with H.R. 885, the Drug Cartel Terrorist Designation Act.
● President Trump claimed that we will finally have a balanced budget
Border
For years, our Southern border has been under constant attack from human smugglers, dangerous cartel members. In Congress, I have been committed to protecting the security of our district, state, and its people.
Since President Trump’s inauguration and reentrance into office, the executive branch has made great strides in working to secure our Southern border. On his first day back in office, President Trump deployed the US military to the border, resumed construction on the border wall, and resumed the Remain in Mexico program.
Further, President Trump’s swift actions have opened the door to continue to fight for the proper interpretation of the Fourteenth Amendment by ending birthright citizenship to ensure our laws are not abused by those seeking to take advantage of our nation.
Congress has received a mandate from the American people to take President Trump’s border executive orders and codify them into law, and I intend on doing my part as a member of the House of Representatives to support the President in his efforts to protect our country.
SAT to DC Direct Flight
Throughout my time in Congress, I have worked side-by-side with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to find a solution to enable a long overdue nonstop flight between Washington Reagan Airport and San Antonio.
This past week, that work came to fruition with the first flight from SAT to DCA. I was proud to welcome this inaugural flight to DC and to be able to visit with so many people from the greater San Antonio area. I am proud to know that the men and women of Military City, U.S.A will finally be able to fly directly to the airport next door to the Pentagon and that all those in the region can visit their nation's capital more easily.
I’d like to thank Senator Ted Cruz for his steadfast leadership and work on this effort. I would also like to thank Senator Cornyn, Rep. Henry Cuellar, Rep. Joaquin Castro, Rep. Greg Casar, Rep. Tony Gonzales, and Mayor Nirenberg for banding together to deliver this priority.
Visiting with Constituents
Last week, I was delighted to welcome the Greater San Antonio Chamber to DC during their annual SA to DC fly in. I had the pleasure of listening to and discussing many of the initiatives, concerns, and issues being undertaken by the good people of San Antonio.
The Greater San Antonio Chamber is committed to providing its members the support they need to succeed in their community, and I had a great time learning about how I can help support their efforts in San Antonio from Washington.
Further, I had the pleasure and honor to meet with the San Antonio Fire Department. During our meeting, we discussed the importance and nature of safeguarding life, along with other pressing challenges that affect and concern our district’s firefighters.
I am committed to supporting our civil servants and those who protect the lives and properties of countless American taxpayers. I am eternally grateful for the sacrifices of good Americans, of which the folks at the San Antonio Fire Department are a prime example.
Here are some other news articles of what I’ve been up to lately:
