Friend,
🚨 The latest Fifth Circuit Court decision on DACA is expected to take effect today.
Back in January, the Fifth Circuit issued a ruling that would potentially open first-time applications and potentially end work permit access for DACA recipients living in Texas, keeping only the deportation protections part of the DACA program.
Today, this decision is expected to go into effect. What does this mean for your loved ones?

👉 For current DACA recipients: Renewals remain open, and they’ll continue to have protections from deportation, even if they live in Texas. 🗣️ They should talk to a trusted lawyer, and renew their DACA as soon as possible.

👉 For DACA recipients living in Texas: They’ll continue to have access to renewals for protection from deportation. 💼 Their work authorization will remain in effect for the time being, but depending on what the Trump admin does next, the decision on whether future first-time applications and renewals include work permits if you reside in Texas will go back down to Judge Hanen to determine when/how this takes effect.

👉 For first-time applicants: Trump’s administration has not yet issued official guidance, and no new applications have been processed. If you know of anyone considering applying for the first time, remember that they’ll be providing their personal information to an administration we know will target immigrants at all costs. 🗣️They should speak with a trusted attorney to make an informed decision.
For years, we’ve been fighting to secure protections for our siblings, friends, and loved ones who were locked out of the program when Trump first tried to shut it down in 2017. Today should’ve been a day of celebration for our communities. Instead, we’re reminded that DACA continues to be under attack.
We cannot ignore that at any moment, Trump could decide to end DACA on his own and could abuse our personal data to target and abduct people in our communities. With ICE raids and abductions escalating across the country, our fight is far from over!
That’s why we’re using this moment to recharge and continue fighting for the only real solution: A pathway to citizenship for all in our communities. With people’s lives and futures on the line, Congress must do its part to keep families together and deliver a pathway to citizenship for all.
✍ Demand your members of Congress co-sponsor the Dream and Promise Act — an important bill that could give a pathway to citizenship to millions in our communities, including many DACA recipients.
