John --

To start, we know that there’s a lot going on in our country right now, and that many of us feel as if we have no control over the future. Many have been hoping for major changes in our government—so have we!—but don’t believe that what we’re currently seeing is the right kind of change. We feel that, when so much can’t be controlled, it’s good to focus on the things that we can do to bring about the change that we hope to see in America.

On that note, thank you to everyone who submitted feedback to us through our end-of-year email series. We took our internal and state debriefs seriously, and we appreciate the feedback that we received to our write-ups following those conversations.

So what did we do with this information, and what’s next?

First, we took the internal debriefs and the feedback that everyone submitted and put together a presentation for the Forward Party Board of Directors. That group gathered together in January to discuss lessons learned from 2024 and what the future holds for Forward.

For a full rundown of the feedback we received, please read our brief here!

Second, we took the directives of the Board to a staff retreat at the end of January. With the whole team in one room, we were able to talk through our goals through the ‘28 cycle, planning for the future and allowing ourselves time to build.

With that in mind, we’ve been working through what that means for our work over the next few years.

Look to a follow up next week where we discuss those plans!
