The Hill: VA secretary: Cutting 80,000 jobs ‘is our target’
Team,
Since Donald Trump took office, Veterans Affairs has laid off 2,400 workers. Now news just broke they plan to lay off 80,000 more employees by June.
The VA is already chronically understaffed, and these additional cuts will disrupt crucial housing, addiction, and mental health services even more.
I am calling on the Trump Administration to STOP the cuts to Veterans Affairs. We need to focus instead on how we help serve our veterans who selflessly served our nation. I also joined colleagues in the House in demanding answers about the VA implementing Trump's hiring freeze.
There's no denying it: These Veterans Affairs cuts will force the more than 96,000 Granite State veterans to wait longer, travel farther, and lose access to lifesaving services. It's time we fight to make sure our veterans receive the support and thanks they've earned.
Thank you,
Chris
