Email from Rep. Mann CongressMann Mail 03.11.2025 Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter. I am in Washington, D.C. for another week of committee hearings, floor activity, and votes. For more information on what I'm working on this week, be sure to follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead I’m back in the nation’s capital this week for another week of legislative activity. Yesterday, the House passed several bills to enhance our nation’s border security and national security. Today, we’ll consider legislation to fund the government though September 30 and keep the government open. I firmly believe that the best way to get our fiscal house in order and rein in our out-of-control federal spending is to return to regular order and pass 12 individual appropriations bills. However, as President Trump continues to get our country back on track, we cannot let a pointless government shutdown become a distraction to implementing his agenda. I will support the clean continuing resolution tonight as it reduces and freezes spending for the next six months, allows President Trump to continue identifying and uprooting wasteful, fraudulent, and abusive federal spending, provides funding for our nation’s veterans, secures our border, and funds our nation’s military. We cannot allow Washington Democrats to derail President Trump's implementation of his America First agenda with a theatrical government shutdown. The House will also consider legislation that will extend the statute of limitations for prosecuting fraudulent COVID-19 unemployment claims and allow federal law enforcement to recover billions of stolen taxpayer dollars while holding criminals accountable. This is a commonsense bill that guarantees bad actors face consequences for abusing taxpayer dollars. Meetings in the Office Cornerstone Classical School Livestock Marketing Association Farm Profit Seminar Americans For Prosperity Kansas School Principals National Association of Convenience Stores Meetings in the District Farm Profit Seminar Ushering in America’s Golden Age Yesterday marked the 50th day of President Trump’s second term. I was grateful to attend President Trump’s Joint Address to Congress last week as he laid out his clear vision for the country. In the first 50 days of his second term, President Trump has done more to secure our border, reduce federal spending, cut taxes, and restore America’s role on the world stage than President Biden did in four years. Promises made, promises kept! As the President highlighted in his speech, for the first time in modern history, more Americans believe the country is headed in the right direction than the wrong direction. I am eager to continue working with President Trump to implement his agenda and get our nation back on track. Hosting Animal Agricultural Producers Last week, I led a hearing for the House Agriculture Committee’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry on the current state of livestock industry. I was grateful to hear from the perspective of producers about the challenges they’re facing and to learn more about the harmful impact of the Biden Administration’s burdensome regulatory agenda, the Trump Administration’s strong response to the Highly-Pathogenic Avian Influenza outbreak, and the necessity of a fiscally conservative Farm Bill. We need a comprehensive, five-year Farm Bill that is long enough to provide certainty to producers yet short enough to respond to market changes. I look forward to working with the House Agriculture Committee to craft a sound Farm Bill that provides America’s farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers with the certainty they desperately need. Meetings in the Office City of Hays I met with the leadership of the city of Hays, Kansas, to discuss the importance of finding sustainable water sources for Hays and Russell during droughts. We spoke about the best way to support the water supply of the two cities and how the local governments are effectively investing in infrastructure projects to ensure the safety and security of their citizens. Thanks for stopping by! VFW VFW has worked around the clock since 1899 to support our veterans who fought overseas. We discussed veteran health care, disability assistance, and how Congress can improve the transition from military to civilian life. These brave men and women put their lives on the line for our everyday freedoms, and I will always fight for policies that give them the highest quality of resources and support. Thank you, VFW, for meeting with me. Textron eAviation Textron eAviation is a leader in developing sustainable aircrafts for urban air mobility, general aviation, cargo, and special mission roles. I met with Textron eAviation President and CEO Kriya Shortt last week to discuss their partnership with K-State Salina to establish an Advanced Air Mobility/Unmanned Aerial Systems test range in Salina. Kansas is a leader in the aviation industry because of the commitment to manufacturing and aviation by companies like Textron eAviation, who have chosen to make our state their home. Thanks for meeting with me. Ducks Unlimited Last week I met with the leadership of the Kansas Ducks Unlimited chapters, including President Mike Link and State Chair Lynne Rozinne. As a grassroots, volunteer-based organization, DU’s members work hard to conserve, restore and manage wetlands and other waterfowl habitats. We spoke about the need for a robust, comprehensive, five-year Farm Bill that addresses conservation needs while protecting wildlife and conserving public land. Thank you, Kansas Ducks Unlimited, for the productive meeting. Kansas Hospital Association The Kansas Hospital Association advocates for quality health care and to improve hospital facilities in the state of Kansas. We spoke about the importance of sustaining and strengthening the 340B program, which provides more affordable health care options for rural communities across our state. Thanks for all you do for Kansans! Evergy Evergy serves more than 1.7 million residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Kansas and Missouri. They are one of the many energy producers in our state that ensure Kansans don’t have to rely on foreign markets for energy. We talked about the importance of an all of the above energy strategy that prioritizes American energy independence and the need for Congress to roll back burdensome rules and regulations implemented by the Biden-Harris Administration. Thank you Evergy, for meeting with me. Kansas Association of Broadcasters Local journalism is a vital resource for reliable information in our country. I met with the Kansas Association of Broadcasters, a statewide organization of radio and television broadcasters that work to promote, protect, and enhance the Kansas broadcast industry. We talked about many of the challenges local broadcasters are facing across our state, and how Congress can remove red tape to ensure small, local stations can compete with larger media conglomerates. Thank you, Kansas Association of Broadcasters, for your time and dedication to helping Kansans stay informed! Kansas State Alliance of YMCAs The Kansas State Alliance of YMCAs works hard to strengthen both youth and individuals across our state. For many Kansans, the YMCA is a crucial resource for maintaining their physical and mental health and a vessel to bring communities together. We spoke about the Charitable Act, which updates the tax law to reward Americans who give to charity and incentivize people to donate to charities and nonprofits. When houses of worship, nonprofits, and families are empowered to help Americans in times of need, they offer a much more efficient safety net than government. Thanks, Kansas YMCA for meeting with me! Hutchinson Community Foundation Last week, I met with Aubrey Abbott Patterson, President and CEO of the Hutchinson Community Foundation. For decades, the Foundation has been a driving force in Reno County—connecting donors with community needs, increasing philanthropy, and leading on key local issues. Thank you, Aubrey and Hutchinson Community Foundation, for your commitment to making Hutch and Reno County a better place to live and do business. Kansas Credit Union Association Last week I met with the Kansas Credit Union Association to discuss the role credit unions play in our communities. We spoke about the challenges they face in serving their members, ways to ensure they can continue offering quality financial products, and the importance of keeping credit unions strong for Kansans. I appreciate their advocacy on behalf of local communities and their commitment to financial security for families across the Big First. Thanks for meeting with me! Kansas Manufacturing Solutions Manufacturing is a cornerstone of the Kansas economy, supporting over 173,000 jobs and contributing billions to our state’s GDP. This week, I met with Kansas Manufacturing Solutions, a nonprofit that works with small and medium-sized manufacturers to strengthen supply chains, drive innovation, and create jobs. We discussed how to support Kansas businesses as they navigate workforce challenges and expand their operations. Thanks for stopping by and for all you do to support our state’s manufacturers! Boys and Girls Clubs of America The Boys & Girls Clubs of America has 36 sites across Kansas, providing thousands of kids with academic support, leadership opportunities, and career readiness programs. We discussed the Boys & Girls Clubs' commitment to ensuring every child has access to the resources they need to succeed, from after-school programs to workforce training. Investing in our youth is investing in the future of Kansas, and I’m grateful for the Boys & Girls Clubs’ dedication to strengthening the next generation of leaders in our communities. Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) I met with the Association of Mature American Citizens (AMAC) to speak about the issues most affecting our nation’s older Americans. I got to hear about the resources they provide their members and how Congress can help them in their mission to empower mature Americans. We also discussed the HEALTH Act, which would allow tax deductions for primary care physicians who provide care to low-income individuals. Thank you AMAC, for all you do to care for our older generation of Americans! Visiting Washington, D.C.?
