Maryland’s workers are the true backbone of our economy, and they deserve fair wages, workplace protections, and the benefits they’ve earned. I’m proud to be a member of the Joint Enforcement Task Force on Workplace Fraud with the Secretary of Labor and Attorney General Anthony Brown. Together, our agencies are coordinating to push back against workplace fraud that steals wages from workers and revenue from the state.
We published our first report recently: it reveals that too many hardworking Marylanders are being misclassified—stripped of essential rights like unemployment benefits, workers’ compensation, and overtime pay.
In 2024, more than 5,500 misclassified workers were uncovered, along with over $36 million in unreported taxable wages. This kind of workplace fraud doesn’t just hurt workers—it puts honest businesses at a disadvantage and drains resources from our state. That’s why I’m committed to standing up for Marylanders by holding lawbreakers accountable and ensuring every worker is treated fairly by strengthening our compliance activities and coordinating with the Secretary of Labor and the Attorney General.
You can review the full report here. Together, we can create an economy that works for all of us.
My best,

(She, Her, Hers)
