Passing the CR is of Vital Importance

PJ Media: As we approach the March 14 deadline to fund the government, Democrats are playing their favorite game: manufacturing a crisis to force through their bloated spending agenda. While Republican leadership works tirelessly to pass a sensible continuing resolution (CR) that would freeze spending and secure our southern border, Democrats are deliberately orchestrating a shutdown. Their endgame? Protecting their precious slush funds and derailing President Trump’s America First agenda. And, of course, stopping the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) dead in its tracks (PJ Media). Townhall: President Donald Trump on Saturday came out in favor of a continuing resolution (CR) to fund the government through September. Not only is this an important measure to prevent a government shutdown, but it will also help Republicans get to reinforcing the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) through legislation. Trump is not only asking for unity from all Republicans, but he stressed the importance of funding the government as well (Townhall). Townhall Media JG: Hugh Hewitt: Do not let the government shutdown. Keep the deportations going. Keep the defense buildup rolling.  KEEP THE DOGE DOGE-ING! Get it done. PASS THE CR (X)! Salem News Channel: Sen. Rick Scott on the Need for CR to Pass Budget Reconciliation (X).

Marco Rubio Announces 83 Percent of USAID Programs Cancelled
Marco Rubio: After a 6 week review we are officially cancelling 83% of the programs at USAID. The 5200 contracts that are now cancelled spent tens of billions of dollars in ways that did not serve, (and in some cases even harmed), the core national interests of the United States. In consultation with Congress, we intend for the remaining 18% of programs we are keeping (approximately 1000) to now be administered more effectively under the State Department.  Thank you to DOGE and our hardworking staff who worked very long hours to achieve this overdue and historic reform (X). National Review: Rubio took over as acting USAID administrator in February and initiated a review of its spending shortly after Musk declared war against the agency and set his sights on tearing it up. He was personally involved in the review process for USAID grants, the State Department said in an internal memo (National Review).

Supreme Court Agrees to Hear Case Challenging Colorado’s Censorship Law
Daily Wire: The Supreme Court will hear a challenge to a Colorado law that has been called the state’s so-called “conversion therapy” ban. The case was brought by the Alliance Defending Freedom on behalf of private Colorado Springs counselor Kaley Chiles, who says the law violates her First Amendment rights to free speech. Passed in 2019, the law prohibits counseling that “attempts or purports to change an individual’s sexual orientation or gender identity.” Chiles added that the law pushes children with gender dysphoria “toward harmful medical interventions” while not allowing counselors to help those who may want to detransition. Penalties for violating the law include a fine of up to $5000 and professional disciplinary action that could include loss of one’s counseling license (Daily Wire). ADF’s Kristen Waggoner: Colorado’s counseling ban is unconstitutional and unconscionable. Beyond the obvious violation of free speech, laws like this do immense harm to young people and their families. The vast majority of young people who experience gender discomfort eventually come to accept their bodies. But if they seek professional counseling, Colorado’s law puts them on a one-way conveyor belt toward irreversible harm (X).

Watchdog Report Identifies 460 DEI Programs Within Federal Government Worth $1 Trillion of Taxpayer Funds
Fox News: A study published this week details the degree to which the Biden administration infused DEI policies into the federal government in a report the authors say can serve as a resource for the Trump administration to continue to identify and “destroy” the practice. The new study, conducted by the Functional Government Initiative and the Center for Renewing America, identified 460 programs across 24 government agencies in the Biden administration that diverted resources to DEI initiatives. At least $1 trillion of taxpayer money was infused with DEI principles, the study states (Fox News). Renewing America: On his first day back in office, President Trump issued an executive order to eliminate “radical and wasteful” Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) “programs and preferences” from the federal government. The Biden administration embraced this “woke” agenda and embedded it across the executive branch. Ensuring these programs do not make a comeback will take a sustained effort (Renewing America).

CNN’s Van Jones: "We're screwed”
Daily Mail: CNN star commentator Van Jones launched into a blistering diatribe against the Democrat party and says he can see why its hemorrhaging voters. Jones, a former Obama adviser let rip on CNN Newsroom Sunday and couldn’t help but let out a laugh as he ran through his party’s recent struggles. He warned the ‘Democrats don’t know what to do,’ due to discord within the party. He then framed the situation ‘as a nightmare’ worsened by its loss of the House of Representatives to the Republican party (Daily Mail). Libs of TikTok: CNN’s Van Jones admits that the Democrat Party is in complete shambles. “We’re screwed– defending a broken status quo and offending most of the country turns out is not as popular as my party thought it was gonna be” (X).

Trump Requires More from Ukrainian President Zelensky in Order to Sign Mineral Deal
NBC: As U.S. and Ukrainian officials prepare to meet in Saudi Arabia this week, President Donald Trump has privately made clear to aides that a signed minerals deal between Washington and Kyiv won’t be enough to restart aid and intelligence sharing with the war-torn country. Trump wants the deal, which would give the United States a stake in Ukraine’s mineral resources, signed. But he also wants to see a change in Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s attitude toward peace talks, the officials said, including a willingness to make concessions such as giving up territory to Russia. Trump also wants Zelenskyy to make some movement toward elections in Ukraine and possibly toward stepping down as his country’s leader, the officials said (NBC). Townhall: The U.S. and Ukraine are expected to hold negotiations in Saudi Arabia this week. White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes acknowledged that Ukraine has “made positive movement” and that Trump administration hopes the meetings will lead to “more positive movement that will hopefully ultimately end this brutal war and bloodshed.” Meanwhile, Russia is ramping up its military efforts in Ukraine after the Trump administration halted aid and stopped sharing intelligence with Ukraine (Townhall). Economics Professor Glenn Loury: Trump seems to want to end the Ukraine War, and I’m all for it. Negotiating a ceasefire means dealing with Putin. That’s the reality. So when Trump’s critics whine about Trump “talking to a dictator,” I have to wonder if they have any interest in peace at all. How else are you going to get it except by negotiating with Putin (X)?

Pro-Palestinian Student Who Organized Violent Protests Gets Green Card Stripped, To Be Deported
Katie Pavlich: Over the weekend Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Hamas Palestinian student who organized violent riots at Columbia University and elsewhere, was arrested by Customs and Immigration Enforcement agents. He’s being stripped of his Green Card and is preparing for deportation (Townhall). Persian Jewess: Mahmoud Khalil stood in front of a crowd of thousands of people calling for them to celebrate Hamas terrorists who raped and slaughtered innocent civilians… The same Hamas terrorists who call for “Death to America”… That’s why he’s being deported (X). Senior Counsel Will Chamberlain: Really straightforward why Mahmoud Khalil is getting deported. You don’t get to endorse or espouse terrorist activity as a non-citizen – even if you have a green card (X).

Trump Introduces App Allowing Illegal Immigrants to Self-Deport
Fox News: The Trump administration is rolling out a new app designed to facilitate the self-deportation of illegal immigrants. The Department of Homeland Security is announcing the CBP Home app — which will launch with a self-deportation reporting feature for those in the country illegally. It replaces the CBP One app, which was expanded by the Biden administration to allow migrants to schedule appointments at ports of entry to be paroled into the U.S. Hundreds of thousands were paroled into the U.S. as a result. The Trump administration has ended the ability to use the app for that purpose (Fox News). Charlie Kirk: DHS tells me that any migrants who had that CBP one app on their phone will see it automatically update to this new self-deportation app starting today. And DHS can also use the data from the prior CBP one registrations to track migrants for removal (X).

Syrian Government Agrees to Integrate U.S.-Backed Kurdish Militia Group Into Military Forces
Wall Street Journal: The Syrian government signed an agreement to integrate a large U.S.-backed Kurdish-led militia into its military forces, a major step toward consolidating Damascus’s control over the country after an armed revolt by former regime loyalists set off sectarian killings. The agreement, which calls for the integration of all “civil and military institutions” in northeastern Syria, was signed by President Ahmed al-Sharaa and the leader of the American-backed Syrian Democratic Forces, according to a two-page document published by state news agency SANA that showed the two leaders signing the deal. Airports, border crossings and gas fields in the northeastern area of Syria controlled by the Kurdish-led force would also be brought under government control, the document says. “The Kurdish community is an essential part of the Syrian state and the state will guarantee their citizenship and all constitutional rights,” the document says. The agreement, if implemented, would remove one of the most important challenges facing the new Islamist-led government in Damascus, which took power in December after rebels toppled former President Bashar al-Assad (Wall Street Journal). Kenneth Roth: Kurdish forces in Syria agree to merge into the new Syrian army in return for the new government recognizing the many rights of Kurds that the Assad government denied them (X).

The President’s Daily Brief is no longer being provided to former President Biden (X). Nick Sortor: The Trump admin is making it tougher and tougher for the deep state to undermine them (X)!
