For weeks, I’ve been calling out Andrew Cuomo for using millions of taxpayer dollars to fund his personal legal defense – including several cases associated with his alleged serial sexual harassment.

Today, I was shocked to learn that this sum isn’t $28 million like we previously believed. No, according to the New York State Comptroller's Office, Andrew Cuomo has been paying private lawyers nearly $60 million in your taxpayer dollars to fight his legal cases.

If Andy wants to defend himself against these allegations, he certainly can. But he should do it with his own money – not yours, John. After all, he’s been raising huge sums at fancy fundraising events with some of the wealthiest people in the city. Let him use that money.

This corrupt politician must be stopped. Help me defeat him. Can you make a contribution of any amount to my campaign for Mayor right now? [[link removed]]

Today I held a press conference calling on Andrew Cuomo to do the following:

First, he should commit to not spending a single cent more of taxpayer money on his personal legal defense – and agree this money should go to actually helping New Yorkers in need.

Second, he should clarify exactly how much taxpayer money he has spent to date on his personal legal defense.

And third, he should immediately return to the taxpayers of New York every penny of their money he’s spent on his scandals - from his staggering 13 sexual harassment cases to his nursing home lawsuits to “other misconduct.”

With that $60 million, we could address so many challenges New Yorkers are facing. Instead, we could have:

* 9,000 afterschool slots
* 2,000 NEW preK slots
* 66,000 NEW summer youth employment slots
* 1,000 domestic violence shelter beds, or
* 2,400 supportive housing units.

If Andy refuses, he is sending a very clear message to every taxpayer in this City: He’s going to put himself first, and John second.

This all comes down to one simple principle: We need a mayor who’s in it for New Yorkers, not himself.

If you’re with me, please chip in a few dollars if you can. Your contribution will be matched 8:1 by the City. [[link removed]]

After so many years of endless scandal, we are going to end the Adams-Cuomo nightmare of corruption and chaos, and send them both to their retirement.

Thank you.
