This can’t wait, John. We need all of us to take action today!
Here’s the situation: U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents kidnapped Mahmoud Khalil, a Palestinian graduate student at Columbia University, and detained him under the guise of student visa revocation.
Mahmoud was legally residing in the U.S. as a permanent resident with a green card, but ICE targeted him anyway. His wife, a U.S. citizen who is 8 months pregnant, was also threatened with arrest.
This was a CLEAR act of political retaliation meant to instill fear and suppress activism and our constitutional right to protest. We need to fight back now.
Every day, we are witnessing a deeper and deeper descent into fascism and authoritarianism by this administration. Silencing the opposition through the weaponization of the legal system is a textbook approach to establishing authoritarian rule.
Add your name to fight back now. We need to free Mahmoud Khalil, abolish ICE, and fight back against this administration.
Mahmoud was taken from his apartment and separated from his wife as part of a broader strategy of repression. The forceful separation of families is inhuman and cruel. These tactics have long been used against Black and Brown communities to control and silence resistance.
Black Lives Matter condemns this blatant attack on free speech, student activism, and the right to protest. The government is trying to make an example out of Mahmoud to send a message: if you resist, if you organize, if you challenge state violence, they will come for you.
These tactics won’t stop unless we fight them together.
We are in solidarity with Mahmoud Khalil and all those facing repression for organizing against oppression. We demand his immediate release, an end to ICE’s violent targeting of activists, and full protection for his wife and family.
Join us and add your name to our petition to advocate for Mahmoud now.
We will not be silent. We will not be intimidated. We will continue to fight for freedom. Free Mahmoud. Abolish ICE. Period.
In solidarity,
Black Lives Matter
Our grassroots movement is pushing for Black liberation every single day. We are striving to create a world where Black people do so much more than just survive. It’s time we thrive.
As an organization one of our biggest hurdles is consistency.
A recurring contribution of anything you can afford goes a long way as we plan for the months, years, and even decades ahead. This is the most effective way for small-dollar donors (like you) to power our Black liberation work.
Will you make a recurring contribution of $5 or more today so that we can keep building momentum for our movement?
