It's June and that means it's Pride month — a time to lift up the incredible accomplishments of the LGBTQ community, celebrate the hard-fought battles for equality, and honor the 1969 Stonewall Uprising in Manhattan.
Sadly, this year's Pride celebrations will be very different, as our nation reels from the effects of a devastating pandemic. Many cities like San Francisco and New York have cancelled their 50th anniversary parades, while other communities have moved events online.
But Pride isn't only about parades and parties. It's also about recognizing the resiliency and strength of the LGBTQ community — and the hardships they and we face, especially now.
For us here at CREDO, Pride Month is every month. We don't change our logo in June for a month-long marketing campaign, because our brand stands for equality year-round. And over the last 35 years, our members have helped us donate more than $6.1 million to LGBTQ groups who are fighting for civil rights and equality.
As we kick off Pride Month in a socially-distanced way, we want to hear from you! What does “Pride” mean to you?
