Right now, the Trump administration is blocking federal grant funding that was already approved by Congress — and communities across your state are feeling the impact.

The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) represented the biggest investment in clean energy and climate action in U.S. history. Through several programs, the IRA allocated grant funding to small business owners, farmers, tribes, and community groups to fund initiatives in every state from pollution clean-up to conservation projects. After a lengthy application and vetting process, grant winners have already broken ground on important local projects that uplift their community and tackle climate change.

But Trump has frozen that funding, reneging on the federal government’s promises and Americans are suffering for it.

The funding freeze is causing widespread harm and disruption to initiatives that benefit public health, including community climate resilience programs and clean energy projects that are already underway. The halt in promised reimbursements to grant recipients is leading to lost compensation to workers, staff hiring freezes, and construction work grinding to a halt.

This is not government efficiency. Freezing funds wastes money already spent on projects that will now go unfinished and hurts working people across the country.

What This Means for You

- Lost jobs and economic setbacks in your state: IRA grant funding went to energy and environmental projects in all 50 states and territories. Your neighbors have spent their own money to break ground on these projects, understanding the funds would be recouped from the government grant. Now, the Trump administration has left your neighbors holding the bag.

- Abandoned projects: The Trump grant funding freeze risks the cancellation of community solar projects, air quality monitoring, and small farm infrastructure — even though funds were already approved.

- Higher energy bills and more pollution: Many of the grants were allocated to bring affordable clean energy to communities, pollution clean-up solutions, or reforesting projects. Without these grants, communities like yours can be left in the lurch, forced to seek higher-cost, dirtier energy sources, or leaving pollution issues unaddressed.

Tell the White House we will not accept broken promises and to release this federal funding now. Include a personal statement to let the White House know how this will affect you and your community.
