Dear Lowcountry,
Thank you for taking the time to read our weekly newsletter. This is the best way to stay up-to-date with our legislative efforts, hearings, meetings and everything else we're doing in the Lowcountry and Washington D.C. | Our Bill H.R. 872 Passed the House | The House passed our H.R. 872, bipartisan legislation led your office to close cybersecurity loopholes in federal contracting. With cyber threats escalating, the bill requires all federal contractors to adopt a vulnerability disclosure policy, ensuring security flaws are identified and fixed before they can be exploited. Backed by industry leaders like Microsoft and Trend Micro, this legislation enhances America’s cyber defenses in real time. With the bill now heading to the Senate, our office is hopeful to see this bill pass the Senate and strengthen our cybersecurity. Read our press release on the passage of the bill here. | We Introduced the No Tax Breaks for Sanctuary Cities Act | Our office is working to end federal handouts for sanctuary cities. We introduced the No Tax Breaks for Sanctuary Cities Act to strip these jurisdictions of tax-exempt municipal bonds, ensuring cities who refuse to follow federal immigration law don’t get special treatment. At an Oversight hearing this week, sanctuary city mayors refused to answer for the horrific crimes committed by illegal aliens in their cities. We’re working to include this measure in the upcoming reconciliation bill because no taxpayer should be forced to subsidize lawlessness. Read our press release here or by clicking the photo above.
| Oversight Hearing: A Hearing with Sanctuary City Mayors | During a heated House Oversight Committee hearing we put four Democratic mayors from New York City, Boston, Chicago, and Denver on notice over their sanctuary city policies. We slammed Eric Adams, Michelle Wu, Brandon Johnson, and Mike Johnston for putting American lives at risk by shielding illegal immigrants. We fired off a series of yes-or-no questions, demanding to know why they refuse to cooperate with federal immigration enforcement—especially when it comes to turning over violent offenders to ICE. None of them had any answers. While South Carolina enforces the law, these cities are turning their backs on public safety. Watch the full line of questioning by clicking the video above or here. | Hearing on on Utilizing Technology to Enhance Immigration Enforcement | We chaired a subcommittee hearing examining how advanced technology can support immigration enforcement efforts. There is an urgent need to implement innovative solutions to track and remove criminal illegal aliens from the U.S. The hearing exposed how the Biden Administration has failed to utilize existing technology to reduce illegal crossings, worsening the border crisis. They revoked several Executive Orders that Trump put in to place in 2017 that rolled the red carpet out for illegal aliens. You can watch our full line of questioning and opening remarks on our official YouTube channel by clicking the video above or clicking here. Expert witnesses shared insights on cutting-edge tools which could enhance law enforcement capabilities and secure our nation. We will continue pushing for real solutions to protect South Carolina and the nation. | Legislating for the Lowcountry | Voted YES ✅ H.R. 856 – Safe and Smart Federal Purchasing Act passed 417-0.
