Email from Greater Georgia Greater Georgia Newsletter March 10, 2025 We are now two months into 2025, and a lot has happened across the State of Georgia! The legislature is in full swing advancing cost relief for Georgians and enacting conservative priorities that complement President Trump’s conservative agenda. Grassroots organizations are thriving and organizing as Georgians are energized by fast and decisive federal action. Our team has been hard at work tracking federal and state developments and engaging with citizens across the state. There’s never been a more exciting time to be part of this growing effort! Last year, Greater Georgia made a huge impact up and down the general election ballot, helping to deliver conservative messaging to key groups of minority and under-engaged voters across the Peach State, and maintaining strong conservative majorities in the Georgia Senate and House of Representatives. But our work is just beginning. This year, with local and municipal elections on the ballot, we will continue to build Georgia's conservative infrastructure through voter registration and updates, diverse community engagement, and issue advocacy - including election trust and integrity. None of this important work would be possible without dedicated supporters like you, and we hope you'll join us this year as we fight to keep Georgia free, prosperous, and the greatest place to live, work, and raise a family! 2025 LEGISLATIVE SESSION The Georgia General Assembly's 2025 legislative session began on January 13th and, having already reached crossover, is scheduled to run through April 4th. Greater Georgia is playing an active role in tracking and advocating for legislation that aligns with Georgia's conservative values and will strongly fight against legislation undermining them. Below is an update on Gov. Brian Kemp's legislative priorities, as well as key pieces of legislation we're tracking: Governor's Priorities  In his State of the State Address, as well as at the annual Eggs and Issues event, Governor Kemp highlighted a number of his legislative priorities for 2025. View our summary below or click the respective links to read his full remarks. Tort Reform Governor's top priority for this legislative session. Proposed tort reform package will level the playing field in Georgia courtrooms, ban hostile foreign powers from taking advantage of consumers and legal proceedings, aim to stabilize insurance costs for businesses and consumers, increase transparency and fairness, and ensure Georgia continues to be the best place to live, work, and raise a family. Workforce Development Ensure Georgia remains the top state in the nation for business and talent by aligning our education pathways to access high-demand, high-skill, and high-wage careers. Use the previously unveiled Georgia High Career Demand List to continue aligning education and job training programs with the needs of employers, grow our skilled workforce, ensure training programs meet industry standards, and increase awareness of career opportunities across the state. Introduce the Top State for Talent Act to incorporate Georgia MATCH into the individual graduation plans of students beginning in the 9th grade; align existing, career-tech and academic credentials with the Georgia High Career Demand List; increase opportunities for articulation from high school to postsecondary programs in those high demand fields; and include a return on investment analysis measuring the effectiveness of secondary and postsecondary programs that are aligned with the high demand career list. Infrastructure Provide another $250 million, like last year, to double Georgia's grant investment in local roads without doubling the cost for local governments. $530 million to invest in freight and logistic transportation infrastructure. Another infusion of $250 million into the Georgia Environmental Finance Authority fund to support the development of water, wastewater, and solid waste infrastructure projects. Education Fund $53 million for additional school security grants to K-12 public schools to improve school safety, bringing the annual total to over $150 million. Prevent biological men and boys from playing in women's and girls' sports. Improve threat management coordination between schools and strengthen penalties for the offense of threatening death or serious injury to individuals at school. Make it easier for Georgia schools to hire qualified school psychologists. RECENT EVENTS Latino Day at the Georgia State Capitol February 5, 2025 Greater Georgia joined some of our Hispanic partner organizations, including Our America and the Latino Conservative Organization, in celebrating the third annual Latino Day at the Georgia State Capitol. Greater Georgia was proud to celebrate the contributions of Georgia's Latino community to our great state, and we look forward to continuing our hard work of growing the conservative movement across all of Georgia's diverse communities.   Voter Registration Drive at Clark Atlanta University February 26, 2025 Greater Georgia hosted a successful tabling event at Clark Atlanta University, one of Georgia's many historically black colleges and universities. Volunteers assisted students with verifying their voter registration, successfully registering 4 new voters, and checking the voter status of more than 58 students. Georgia March For Life March 6, 2025 Our volunteers were out in full force at the Georgia March for Life, advocating for pro-life and pro-family policies and helping voters check their registration status. We successfully helped 58 marchers check and update their registrations to be sure they're ready to vote in this year's local elections! INTERNSHIP APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN Greater Georgia is now accepting internship applications for Summer 2025. Every semester, we are proud to hire college students and recent college graduates for paid internships with our organization. Anyone who is passionate about the conservative movement is encouraged to apply.
