Washington Democrats want to let juvenile killers out early and give them free housing—what could go wrong?

Murder, Then Rent-Free Living—Courtesy of Washington Democrats

Washington Democrats are pushing a bill that lets juvenile murderers walk free early—so long as they didn’t kill too many people—while giving them taxpayer-funded housing. Sen. Noel Frame (D-Seattle) insists this is about “accountability,” though she doesn’t bother explaining how letting killers out after six years accomplishes that. The bill leans on the tired excuse that “brain development” isn’t complete until 24, yet the same Democrats claim a 13-year-old can change genders without parental consent. Even some Democrats admit this is insane, with Rep. Lauren Davis calling it “objectively unreasonable” since it allows multiple killers to serve as little as three years per victim.

To make it worse, the bill doesn’t cap how long these criminals get free rent, so taxpayers could be subsidizing murderers indefinitely. Supporters promise “rigorous risk assessments” will protect the public—because that’s worked so well before, right? Meanwhile, the families of victims would have to beg a board to keep their loved one’s killer behind bars, but Frame assures them they don’t have to relive their trauma, so that makes it okay. Apparently, an apology is all it takes for Democrats to believe justice has been served. Instead of prioritizing public safety, they’re once again siding with criminals over communities—and expecting you to foot the bill. Read more at KTTH.

Washington Democrats Dare Trump to Defund Schools Over Woke Agenda

While test scores plummet and classrooms struggle, Washington Senate Democrats decided their priority is expanding protected classes in schools to include everything from immigration status to “neurodivergence.” SB 5123 is supposedly about “clarity and equal protection,” but Republicans see it for what it is: another ideological stunt that puts politics over education. Sen. Jim McCune (R-Graham) slammed the bill for stripping local control from school boards and forcing Biden-era gender policies into classrooms—just as Trump pushes to end them nationwide. Sen. Leonard Christian (R-Spokane Valley) compared the move to a small dog barking at a bigger one, daring Trump to cut federal funding. Democrats, of course, claim this is about protecting students, not about provoking a political fight, but their track record says otherwise. The bill now heads to the House, where Democrats will almost certainly keep playing identity politics while Washington’s education system crumbles. Read more at Center Square.

Washington Democrats: Prioritizing Racial Quotas Over Fiscal Reality

Democrats in the Washington House just passed a bill expanding their racially exclusive home-buying program—even as the state drowns in a multi-billion-dollar deficit. The Covenant Home Ownership Program, which hands out taxpayer-funded, zero-interest loans based on race, is now set to forgive those loans after just five years. Republicans pointed out the program is already out of money, but Democrats seem more interested in virtue-signaling than financial sustainability. Rep. Sam Low (R-Lake Stevens) questioned the wisdom of “giving more money away that we don’t even have,” but that didn’t stop the majority party.

It gets worse—Republicans tried to amend the bill to at least exclude convicted sex offenders from receiving taxpayer-funded home loans, but Democrats fought it. Apparently, making sure rapists and child abusers don’t get free houses is just too “illogical” for Rep. Lillian Ortiz-Self (D-Mukilteo). Meanwhile, Rep. Debra Entenman (D-Covington) framed opposition to this fiscal train wreck as a failure to “come to grips with white supremacy.” Right—because refusing to hand out free homes to violent criminals is now a racial issue. Despite GOP warnings about the program’s insolvency, Democrats doubled down, rejecting every amendment and ramming it through on a party-line vote. The bill now heads to the Senate, where Democrats will likely pretend financial reality doesn’t exist—again. Read more at Center Square.

Kristine Reeves Cries Racism While Pushing a Racist Bill

In related news on the Covenant Home Ownership Program, Rep. Kristine Reeves (D-Federal Way) was gaveled in on Friday after suggesting Republicans are racist while defending HB 1696, a bill that hands out loan forgiveness based solely on skin color—no proof of past discrimination required. Strangely, while the program claims to address redlining, it excludes Jews and many Asians who were actually impacted. Maybe Reeves should look in the mirror when talking about discrimination. AG Nick Brown: Prioritizing Illegal Immigrants Over Law-Abiding Citizens

Washington’s Attorney General Nick Brown is once again using state resources to go after local law enforcement—this time suing the Adams County Sheriff’s Office for daring  to enforce federal immigration laws. The lawsuit whines that deputies actually detained illegal immigrants and even (gasp!) let ICE question them, which apparently violates the state’s absurd sanctuary policies. Instead of addressing rising crime or economic woes, Brown is laser-focused on punishing a sheriff for prioritizing public safety over political pandering. Meanwhile, Adams County has teamed up with America First Legal to push back, arguing that Brown’s crusade forces local officials to break federal law in the name of leftist ideology. But hey, nothing says “justice” like a state AG working harder to shield illegal immigrants than to protect legal residents. Read more at MyNorthwest.com.

Washington Democrats: Sick Leave for Deportation Hearings? Sure!

While Washington faces real problems, House Democrats prioritized a bill letting workers use paid sick leave to attend immigration proceedings—including deportation hearings. Rep. Osman Salahuddin (D-Redmond) claimed no one should have to choose between a paycheck and family, but Republicans pointed out that sick leave doesn’t cover things like divorce or child custody battles—so why special treatment for immigration cases? An amendment to limit the bill to legal proceedings like naturalization and asylum was, of course, rejected as “discriminatory.” Instead, Democrats insisted that even deportation hearings qualify, because apparently, being in the country illegally deserves workplace perks. The bill passed along party lines, because nothing says “responsible governance” like forcing businesses to fund time off for people fighting deportation. Now it heads to the Senate, where Democrats will likely rubber-stamp it without a second thought. Read more at Center Square.
