Learn More About How Kansas Can Address Conflicts of Interest in HCBS with the Conflict-Free Kansas Grant Are you concerned about conflicts of interest (COIs) and the future of Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) in Kansas? Do you want to know more about KDADS’s plan for addressing them and how that might affect HCBS in the state? Then join the Conflict-Free Kansas Grant mailing list. We’ll send information on key decisions, upcoming town halls, and any other important details about the grant. Signing up for the mailing list is the best way to ensure you hear about everything happening with Conflict-Free Kansas. What is the Conflict-Free Kansas Grant? Some organizations in Kansas provide both case management and direct services to people with intellectual/developmental disabilities (I/DD). When the same organization handles case management and service provision, this creates a COI. COIs like these can cause serious problems: • Kansas could lose federal Medicaid funding, which makes up 60% of the state’s Medicaid budget Conflict-Free Kansas will help organizations across the state address COIs and comply with federal regulations—most notably, the HCBS Settings Final Rule—by separating case management and direct services. Approved applicants will be reimbursed for eligible spending and receive technical assistance to help make the transition as seamless as possible. Have questions about Conflict-Free Kansas?
