Friend,

Here’s a story I recently encountered that might be instructive:

A local, family-owned lumber company in IL-17 reached out to me in deep concern, because for the first time in over 40 years, their next shipment of 2x4’s from Canada is labeled “Cost TBD.”

They have made clear, like so many local businesses, that long-term price uncertainty will close his business.

He is not alone.

Every day I hear from my constituents who want me to find common sense solutions to lowering prices. They want groceries to be cheaper, they want to afford their prescription drugs, and they want to afford a home to raise their kids in. They’re not getting any of that from Donald Trump.

While the President is focused on punishing Canada for no reason, he’s ignoring the real Americans like those in my district who have everything going up – including the number of unemployed workers.

Trump might be forcing these working folks to pay an incredible cost with no reward in the end, but I will keep fighting to deliver on the issues my neighbors care about the most. I am in Washington to get results for YOU, not to play politics.

More soon,

- Eric
