Dear [email protected],
We recently wrapped up the seventh week of the legislative session, which has proven to be one of the most pivotal thus far. As seen on the Senate floor this week, Democrats continue to prevent my fellow Republican legislators from simply having the chance to discuss their bills in their respective committees. Actions such as these demonstrate my Democratic colleagues' unwillingness to work together to support and protect our Minnesota communities.

Minnesota February Budget Forecast
|
On Thursday, March 6, Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) released its annual February revenue forecast, providing information and an outlook for the state’s financial picture. The latest forecast shows a smaller $456 million surplus at the end of 2026 and a larger $6 billion deficit by 2029. The forecast numbers do not account for any new spending, meaning that new spending bills passed this legislative session will further increase the deficit down the line.

Standing Up for Women's Sports
|
We were fortunate to be met with Riley Gaines on Monday to discuss the ongoing turmoil that is the protection of women's sports. For those unfamiliar with Ms. Gaines, she is a former collegiate swimmer who made headlines when she spoke out against her former teammate: Lia Thomas. For the past several years, Gaines has spoken to crowds both large and small about the dangers of allowing biological males to compete in women's sports.
Her visit also marked a key moment on the Senate floor as my colleague, Senator Carla Nelson, made a floor motion to bring up her bill to ensure that only biological female student-athletes compete in girls’ sports at the elementary and secondary levels in Minnesota. Not only was her motion to bring the bill before the Senate denied, but she was also denied the opportunity to even have it heard in committee!

Walz Refers to Republicans as "Fascists and Nazis"
|
In case you missed it, Governor Tim Walz, in a recent meeting, made claims that equated Republicans to "Fascists and Nazis." Comments like these are not only false, but they also further dilute the meaning and heinous actions attributed to these words. I for one think that we the people of Minnesota ought to buy the governor a dictionary, so that he can better understand his word choices.
