Friend,
In the first month of 2025, the Trump administration has launched a series of reckless attacks that threaten the future of our planet, wildlife, and climate. From freezing critical funding for electric vehicles to pushing for more fossil fuel exports that worsen energy prices, we're facing a crisis of unprecedented proportions.
But we knew this was coming – and we've already started fighting back. We have the skills, the experience, and the raw people-power to push back hard. We just need you to help us get there.
During Trump's previous term, we learned how to fight in the courts, in Congress, and at every level of government across the country. Here are four key areas where we're making our stand:
1. Arctic Drilling and the Fight for Our Wild Lands
The Trump administration's push to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling and its removal of protections for the Tongass National Forest threaten two of the world's most pristine and biodiverse ecosystems. We are fighting back through legal action, public pressure, and advocacy to protect these fragile landscapes for future generations.
2. Defending Clean Air and Water
Trump's attacks on clean air and water standards, along with dismantling crucial environmental offices, put vulnerable communities at risk. His "energy emergency" declaration prioritizes corporate fossil fuel interests over our planet's survival. We are organizing, advocating, and demanding stronger protections to ensure access to clean air and water for all.
3. Protecting Endangered Species
The Trump administration's assault on the Endangered Species Act puts wildlife like the gray wolf, grizzly bear, and monarch butterfly in danger. Together, we are working through local campaigns and legal victories to safeguard these endangered species and protect our environment.
4. Fighting Big Oil and Fossil Fuel Expansion
From pushing for increased LNG exports to the ongoing giveaways to Big Oil in Alaska and near our parks and monuments across the West, Trump's policies prioritize corporate profits over climate action. His attack on clean energy, particularly offshore wind and solar, makes the fight even harder. We're resisting these reckless policies and advocating for clean energy solutions that will protect our future.
For 133 years, the Sierra Club has fought for the places, people, and planet we all cherish. We won't back down over the next four years, and with your help, neither will our movement. Together, we can make a powerful and lasting impact.
