It's President's Day, John. Today we celebrate exemplary leadership that has united and guided our country through times of uncertainty and prosperity.
I think of Franklin D. Roosevelt, who took office during the Great Depression and World War II. In one of our country's most challenging times, he addressed anxieties with fireside chats, and progressive policies that lifted up families and working people, and aided our allies through the perils of evil.
I reflect on Barack Obama's administration and how a young Senator from Illinois would inspire hope. Millions of Americans received health care services previously denied to them with the Affordable Care Act .
I look back at Joe Biden's legacy and think about how far we've come. His years of public service proved itself by leading the country through the pandemic, rising dictatorships, and bringing civility back to the White House. Together, we saw 235 judges confirmed to the federal bench and the historic confirmation of Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson.
Legacies like these teach us that when we work together, we can create a stronger country that represents everyone. They remind us of what is possible.
We can't forget their leadership through Donald Trump's MAGA madness and will need to continue fighting for a country that works for everyone. I hope you can join me in honoring their legacies and reflect on how we will move forward together.
