Statement from Daniela Ochoa Diaz, Senior Director of Policy at URGE: Unite for Reproductive and Gender Equity, on Donald Trump’s onslaught of Executive Orders in the first few weeks of his administration:

“We are seeing an intentional barrage of Executive Orders coming out of the Trump-Vance administration targeting marginalized and vulnerable communities. We condemn this administration’s attempt to erase our communities and our existence through the use of Executive Orders. We cannot and will not be erased.

“We are strategically engaging to push back against these harmful Executive Orders, many of which aim to effectively strip the rights of our most vulnerable communities. In the past three weeks, we have seen the following harmful Executive Orders: Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government, Ending Illegal Discrimination and Restoring Merit-Based Opportunity, Presidential Memorandum reinstating the Global Gag Rule, Enforcing the Hyde Amendment, Protecting Children from Chemical and Surgical Mutilation, and Keeping Men out of Women's Sports.

We condemn this administration’s attempt to erase our communities and our existence through the use of Executive Orders. We cannot and will not be erased.

“These baseless attacks are targeting the trans, BIPOC, immigrant, people with disabilities, and LGBTQIA communities, and are meant to cause confusion and chaos. We will continue to stay grounded and center the vision, desires, and leadership of young people. If surviving in a Post-Roe world taught us anything, it’s that we take care of each other. We encourage people to take care of themselves and nurture their communities whenever possible.”
