Democrats want parents silenced, schools unchecked, and kids under their control—but parents aren’t backing down.

Parents vs. the State: Democrats Want Your Kids, and They Won’t Take No for an Answer
The battle over parental rights is heating up in Olympia, with Democrats scrambling to gut Initiative 2081—because nothing terrifies them more than parents actually having a say in their children’s education and healthcare. Hundreds braved the rain to rally against their latest power grab, where lawmakers and activists made it clear: parents, not the government, should be raising children.
I-2081 ensures parents are informed if their child seeks counseling or medical care for gender confusion—basic rights that Democrats claim create “confusion” and need to be “cleaned up.” Their “fix”? Senate Bill 5181, which lets minors access mental health and reproductive services without parental consent, effectively erasing parents from the equation. Because in the Democrats’ world, secrecy from parents is a virtue.
Speakers at the rally weren’t having it. GOP Rep. Travis Couture warned that schools are pushing policies allowing kids to leave campus for medical procedures without parents knowing, calling it “the most disturbing” attack on families he’s seen in the Legislature. Independent journalist Brandi Kruse put it bluntly: Olympia Democrats think they can raise your kids better than you can.
The fight isn’t over. A King County judge ruled I-2081 constitutional, but if Democrats succeed in rewriting it, groups like Let’s Go Washington are prepared to launch yet another initiative. Parents are standing firm, sending a clear message: Washington’s children belong to their families, not the government. Read more at Center Square.

Judge Throws Out BIAW’s Lawsuit on a Technicality, But the Fight Isn’t Over
A Thurston County judge just handed state bureaucrats a free pass—at least for now—by dismissing BIAW’s lawsuit over Washington’s voter-approved natural gas initiative on a mere technicality. Judge John Skinder conveniently dodged ruling on the merits, siding with the state’s argument about procedural filing instead of addressing the real issue: the State Building Code Council (SBCC) refusing to follow the law. The voters made it clear with Initiative 2066 that natural gas must remain an energy option, but the SBCC is dragging its feet, pretending it doesn’t understand what’s required of it. Apparently, “millions of voters have spoken” isn’t enough of a directive for these bureaucrats.
Meanwhile, the SBCC’s own technical advisory group is laughably claiming the current energy code doesn’t penalize natural gas—despite making it deliberately more expensive. BIAW isn’t backing down and will be refiling under the proper legal framework before the end of the month. The fact that a lawsuit is even necessary to force state agencies to obey a voter-approved law says everything about the arrogance of Olympia’s unelected regulators. If the SBCC thinks they can stall their way out of this, they’re in for a rude awakening. Read more at Center Square.

Democrats’ Favorite Pastime: Raising Your Taxes
Washington Democrats are pushing a property tax hike (House Bill 1334) that would siphon another $1.8 billion from hardworking taxpayers to help pay for the deficit they created with out-of-control spending. The bill would allow the cap on state property taxes to increase from 1% to 3%. GOP State Rep. Chris Corry isn’t buying their sob story, calling it what it is—fearmongering to justify their addiction to reckless spending. Meanwhile, King County’s Dow Constantine is playing the usual game of threatening public safety cuts, pretending there’s no other way to balance the budget. Corry rightly points out the hypocrisy: Democrats whine about regressive taxes but have no problem shoving them down the throats of working-class families. If voters don’t push back, Olympia Democrats will keep reaching deeper into their pockets—because for them, responsible budgeting is just too much work. Read more at KTTH.

Seattle’s Homeless Crisis: Imported and Ignored by Democrats
The Discovery Institute did what Seattle politicians refuse to do—actually investigate the root of the city’s homeless crisis—and the results are damning. Their 2024 survey found that nearly 50% of homeless people first became homeless outside of King County and a staggering 87% weren’t even born there. Turns out, Seattle’s infamous “compassion” has made it a magnet for out-of-state transients, and taxpayers are footing the bill.
Instead of admitting failure, Democrats continue pouring money into bloated programs that do nothing but attract more people to the streets. Meanwhile, Discovery Institute’s solution is simple: prioritize long-term services for locals and stop incentivizing homeless migration. Of course, King County officials and homeless nonprofits—who thrive on endless funding—refused to comment.
Since 2019, homelessness has exploded by 46%, yet Seattle’s leaders blame “affordable housing” instead of their own disastrous policies. Funny how the only growth Seattle sees is in its homeless population and government excuses. Maybe it’s time to stop throwing billions at the problem and start listening to people with actual solutions. Read more at Center Square.

Activist Judge Sides with Butcher Brigade, Blocks Trump’s Ban on Taxpayer-Funded Child Mutilation
An activist judge in Seattle just threw a wrench into Trump’s executive order halting federal support for the butchering of minors under the guise of “gender-affirming care.” Judge Lauren King—handpicked by Biden—sided with our far-left attorney general and his activist pals, who seem more interested in pushing irreversible medical experiments on kids than protecting them. This ruling isn’t about “rights” or “equal protections”—it’s about keeping the cash flowing to hospitals and universities that profit off life-altering, body-mutilating procedures. Trump’s order simply stops taxpayer dollars from funding this madness, but apparently, that’s too much for the radical left. Washington AG Nick Brown, ever eager to score woke points, celebrated the ruling like he just saved democracy, instead of enabling irreversible harm to children. The fight isn’t over—this temporary ruling will be challenged, and sanity
will prevail. Read more at NPR.

A Rare Win for Sanity in Seattle: Pike Place Market Shuts Down Radical Leftist Nonsense
A glimmer of common sense has appeared in Seattle—Pike Place Market canceled a sham “remembrance” event that tried to equate Trump’s deportation of criminal illegal immigrants with the internment of Japanese Americans. Sorry, but enforcing immigration law isn’t the same as rounding up American citizens based on race, no matter how hard the activist mob at Tsuru for Solidarity cries about it. This was never about history—it was about pushing a radical open-borders agenda and taking cheap shots at Trump. Thankfully, Pike Place Market refused to play host to this nonsense, though their obligatory groveling apology afterward proves Seattle’s activist class still rules by tantrum. But hey, for one brief, shining moment, sanity actually won in Seattle—maybe there’s hope after all. Read more at KTTH.
