John, — if you’ve been watching the news, you may have heard reports of “violence” and “looting” taking place across the country, or even in Ferguson. So here’s what really happened last night.
Tear gas. Pepper spray. Rubber bullets. Smoke bombs.
I’m in my 40s, and I’ve been on these streets for years, so I know what I’m doing. But there were kids out there with us last night. Teenagers. I couldn’t leave until I knew they were all safe—so I didn’t. I stayed through the tear gas, the pepper spray, the rubber bullets, and the smoke bombs. I stayed through the gunshots.
You know who didn’t? Our representative, Lacy Clay. The incumbent has only been seen at one Ferguson protest in the last six years. One.
Enough is enough, John. To be frank, we don’t have any more time to waste on complacent leadership who won’t even show their faces in our communities when it counts. I’m running for Congress because I know the power our elected officials have. I won’t waste that power. But in order for me to keep showing up on the streets, I need to know our campaign is going strong. It’s the last day of the month, and every single $ counts. I need your support—Ferguson NEEDS your support. Can we count on you today?
