The Week in Review
Happy Monday!
I hope you had a wonderful week. I am grateful to serve you all in the 119th Congress. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week.
My Bill Promoting Stronger Congressional Oversight of Outgoing Presidential Administrations PASSES HOUSE
The House passed my bill, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, by a vote of 212-208. Click the image below to hear some of my remarks from the Floor on the bill:
The passage of Midnight Rules Relief Act will make it easier for Congress to check the unelected bureaucrats who feverishly wrote new federal rules before the end of the Biden Administration. In 2024 alone, the Biden Administration imposed more than 1,400 new rules at $1.34 trillion in regulatory costs. Many of these rules are out of step with the mandate the American people gave us in November, and the tools provided under this Act will allow them to be swiftly addressed.
The Midnight Rules Relief Act will allow Congress and President Trump’s Administration to follow through on our promises to rein in the out-of-control bureaucracy and return power to the American people and those they elect.
I urge the Senate to quickly take up this legislation so it can be signed into law by President Trump. I look forward to working with my colleagues—in both the legislative and executive branches—to break down the massive administrative state that was propped up by Joe Biden and his cronies.
Advancing President Trump’s Agenda Through Congress
President Trump hit the ground running on day one to fulfill Americans’ mandate, and I’ve been with him every step of the way. It’s an honor to once again work alongside a President who puts the people first.

Hosting CBP Chief Mike Banks for the Congressional Border Security Caucus
Mike Banks, Chief of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), joined me for this month’s Congressional Border Security Caucus meeting.
Chief Banks has over 25 years of experience with border security operations and was previously the Special Advisor on Border Matters to Texas Governor Greg Abbott.
He provided members of the Border Security Caucus insight into CBPs border security operations so far under President Trump. This Administration has hit the ground running and will continue to work to protect American citizens.

Meeting with Ambassador Yui
It was an honor to host Alexander Yui, Taiwan’s ambassador to the United States, in my Washington, D.C. office.
Taiwan is an important ally to the United States, and I look forward to strengthening our relationship even further under President Trump.

House Judiciary Committee Hearing
The House Judiciary Committee held a hearing titled “The Censorship-Industrial Complex” to examine the Committee's role in uncovering the Biden-Harris Administration's unconstitutional censorship campaign. I discussed the many abuses of power in the Biden White House, including their efforts to pressure large social media platforms to censor content and creators with a hint of criticism against their Administration. The censorship-industrial complex even silenced memes. Click the image below to see some of my remarks from the hearing:
House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations Hearing
I participated in the House Natural Resources Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations for a hearing titled “Leaving Indian Children Behind: Reviewing the State of BIE Schools.” My colleagues and I discussed the rampant waste and fraud in the Bureau of Indian Education (BIE). BIE has long suffered from an absence of oversight and accountability, leading to deteriorating facilities and failing educational experiences for Indian students at BIE and tribally controlled elementary and secondary schools. I discussed thousands of fraudulently closed work orders and the misuse of COVID-19 funds. Click the image below to hear my questions from the hearing:
