Hello,

In this week’s edition, as we approach Valentine’s Day, I explain why a lifelong commitment is worthwhile and how such a relationship adds to the quality of your life. Then, I share the first episode of my series “Foundations of the West,” the episode in which Ben Shapiro and I explore Jerusalem. From the archives, I look back on a previous lecture addressing why a real relationship should be a wrestling match, with both people growing individually and together.

Advice

Justify The Catastrophe Of Your Life By Developing A Vision

Craft a vision. Craft a compelling vision. As human beings, we are visionaries, which is how we confront the horizon of the future. In other words, we meet the horizon of the future by crafting a compelling vision. Your vision should be one that, if you could make it come to fruition, it would justify the trouble it would take you to manage it. That is the right attitude to take in your life.

We all have our crosses to bear in the most fundamental manner. We must contend with the catastrophe of mortality, and we must face the reality of hell (which you can think about in the religious sense or not). There are other types of hell on earth that we certainly have no shortage of in the 21st century. So we must all grapple with the realities of mortality and hell.

Then, we must accept the fact we have to develop a vision for our life so compelling that it justifies those bitter realities. That is the nature of the religious enterprise, a journey upon which you can embark. If you are attempting to figure out who you are, figure out who you need to be in order to justify the catastrophe of your life. It will be difficult, but it will also be worth it.

Jordan Peterson On Love And Marriage

Love is a deep and profound concept, both at an individual level and in society at large. Though a marriage based on companionship and attraction was not a readily accepted idea until, arguably, the Victorian era, the first marriage ceremony took place over 4,000 years ago. The evolving and historical practice of marriage — and love’s role in it — is perhaps most easily mapped through literature, as it reflects societal norms of its time. To name a few, both Plato (428-348 BC) and Aristotle (384-322 BC) parsed thoughts on love, the book of Numbers tells of Zimri and Cozbi’s story (and subsequent demise), William Shakespeare constructed an entire play around star-crossed lovers with “Romeo and Juliet” (1597), and C.S. Lewis drew on the Greeks and Christian commentators' thoughts to describe the types of love in “The Four Loves” (1960). In more recent years, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson has contributed to history’s collection of tales on love and marriage, the most obvious of which being his series
“Marriage” in which he draws on both his clinical and personal experiences.

Reform, R*pe Gangs And The Rot Of The U.K. | Matthew Goodwin | EP 521

In this episode, I am joined by author, ex-professor, and public advocate, Matthew Goodwin. We discuss the systemic rot of the academic institutions, how the West has been subjugated by long-term mass radicalization, why the elites rally behind far-Left progressivism, the grotesque extent of U.K. rape gang scandal, and (if not obvious) exactly why we won’t be quiet about it regardless of what Keir Starmer would prefer.

Tulsi Gabbard On Women In Combat

When I interviewed recently confirmed Tulsi Gabbard, I asked her about the integration of women into the armed forces and her conclusive view of women in combat. I posited that, generally speaking, opening up the military to female participation seems to have immense benefits, but I inquired specifically as to her thoughts on the practical and ethical utility of placing women on the frontlines in battle positions. In this clip, she shares her position, a position based on her firsthand experience, having served alongside both men and women, in various roles.
