While we’re from different generations, Abby and I have a shared story. Both of us come from blue-collar families, keeping our focus on working class issues -- union rights, worker safety, and reducing the power of corporations over their employees.

We both began our public service in our very first jobs. Abby worked for a Dubuque charity organization, and I became a public defender. We share a core value: to give back to the communities that raised us, shaped us, and gave us the chance to succeed.

And when we first ran for federal office, folks dismissed us -- but at the age of 29, we were both elected to Congress, defying the odds and doubts. While I’ve had a long life in public service, Abby is just getting started, even though she’s already accomplished so much.

That’s why I need her in Congress after we defeat Donald Trump. Because when I’m pushing to restore the ACA, reinstate the assault weapons ban, and protect workers' rights, I’ll need her working together by my side.
