Rough number of civil rights complaints that were under investigation at the Department of Education when President Donald Trump took office in January, including:

  • 6,000 related to mistreatment of disabled students.
  • 1,000 specific to sexual harassment/violence.

  • 3,200 pertaining to racial discrimination.

Sources say thousands of pending cases are on hold, and only about 20 new investigations have been opened by the administration, a low number compared with similar periods in previous years.
