Hi John xxxxxx,
A New York doctor was recently indicted by a Louisiana grand jury for prescribing an abortion pill to a young minor (under the supervision of her mother) across state lines.
Louisiana has a total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest. Under their state law, doctors face penalties of up to 15 years in prison and $200,000 in fines for facilitating an abortion. Since the state’s ban went into effect, pregnant women and children have been given “risky, unnecessary surgeries, denied treatment for miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies, and forced to wait until their life is at risk before getting the care they need.” (NPR)
Louisiana’s State Legislature is 77% male lawmakers – one of the most underrepresented state governments for women in the country.
We are no longer accepting the dangerous underrepresentation that has given rooms full of men the power to make laws about OUR bodies. We are working tirelessly to get more women elected. Help us chip away at male GOP supermajorities across the country by donating $25 today.

Louisiana has some of the HIGHEST rates of maternal mortality and morbidity in the nation. It is dangerous to be a woman in a red state – and there is virtually no infrastructure in place to change that. The Democratic party, most progressive orgs, and virtually all other institutional funders dedicated to getting more women in office are directing their resources to – you guessed it – blue and purple states.
The reason for that is understandable. They want to put their money behind “winnable” races and they don’t believe red states have winnable seats worth fighting for.
But here’s the thing: in 2024, 44% of our Her Bold Move victories happened in red states.
