1) Just Do It!

What is taking so long to get the Trump tax cut cemented into law? Why are Republicans dithering?

We have a president who is surfing on a wave of popularity and a voter mandate to make the tax cuts permanent. We have a Democratic party that is rolled up into a ball of confusion. We have an economy that needs a steroid injection.

We have all the evidence needed to show that the tax cut was an unequivocal success. By the CBO's own scoring, there has been virtually no revenue loss from the lower tax rates.

With each passing day, Wall Street is getting increasingly nervous that the Republicans are going to screw this up. We are, too.

Many of our longtime friends in the House want to hold the tax cut hostage to spending cuts. If Reagan had done that, we never would have gotten his historic tax cut that rebuilt the American economy.

There’s a big ongoing debate about one bill, or two bills, or three bills. How about making the first bill a stand-alone immediate vote to make the Trump tax cuts permanent? Would any Republican be stupid enough to vote against a bill to prevent a $3,000 tax increase on the average family next year? Would they vote to raise taxes on every business in America? Would they vote to bring back the Alternative Minimum Tax?

Use the current policy baseline Senator Crapo has wisely suggested so there is no revenue loss from the tax cut to score.

Cut the taxes now. Then, deal with the budget-cutting later.

It’s easy. To quote: Do the right thing.

Take the tax cut to the bank now. Then, work with DOGE to cut the bloated budget later.

It’s easy. To quote the great modern philosopher Spike Lee: Do the right thing.

2) Biden's Parting Gift to America – Another Burst of Inflation

We mentioned last week that the inflation numbers were worse than Wall Street (but not we) expected.

The two charts below from Andy Puzder, who will be the next U.S. ambassador to the EU, show the dramatic difference between inflation and income growth under Trump 1.0 and Biden. Biden makes Obama look competent.

There are many reasons inflation picked up in January, such as the bird flu, but a major factor was the massive 11th-hour spending spree from the Biden team up until January 21, when he was booted out of office.

We're still getting a kick out of the press conference by Hakeem Jeffries and Chucky Schumer racing to the cameras to blame Trump for the bad numbers that happened before he was president.

3) Unlock America's $12 Trillion Treasure Chest

Our new study by former U.S. Geological Survey scientist Ned Mamula and economist Steve

Moore on America's mineral resources offers one solution to our budget problems. Allow mining for our vast resources and use the royalty payments to lower our national debt.

Here is an excerpt:

We could potentially raise $1 trillion in tax and royalty payments from a pro-mining policy. Time to unlock our minerals!

Don't you hate that feeling when you “misplace” $2 billion?

5) Obama Aides Praise DOGE – “We Should Have Done This”

Speaking of waste, it’s fun to watch Liberals so fervently slam Elon Musk, as they gallantly defend government waste and fraud. One possible reason: the fraud enriches THEM.

But to their credit, several former Obama aides who host the progressive ''Obama Bros'' podcast "Pod Save America" admit they should've done "some of the stuff" that Donald Trump and Elon Musk are pursuing with DOGE.

Jon Lovett, a former Obama speechwriter, confessed, "Honestly… it's some of the stuff we should've done. We didn't know you could do some of this."

Jon Favreau, another Obama speechwriter, said that while the Obama administration tried to tame some of the bureaucracy, it didn't get far.

"We all know that government is slow. We all know government can be inefficient. We all know that the bureaucracy can be bloated," he told his listeners. "We tried to reorganize the government. We tried to find efficiency. It's hard to do." But not for Elon.

That's why the new story that Elon Musk and DOGE are writing is so important. It's the first time since Ronald Reagan that a serious effort has been made to uncover the waste and to take a powerful microscope to discover whether it’s real.
