This year, people around the world are joining together to demand action on the debt crisis. It’s the biggest global movement for debt justice since campaigners won $130bn in debt cancellation a generation ago.

In the early 2000s, debt campaigners won billions in debt cancellation for lower-income countries. But the underlying causes of the crisis were never addressed. In recent years, spiralling interest rates, the pandemic and soaring energy prices have pushed 54 countries to crisis point.

This year we are going to make the call for debt cancellation so loud that world leaders will have to act. We’ve joined forces with allies in the UK and globally who are demanding debt cancellation, new debt justice laws, and a new UN framework to prevent future debt crises.

Already over 3000 of us have added our names to the campaign. I know that with your support, together we can make 2025 count for debt justice.
