This week, I'll kick off my fourth annual Mann Listening Tour in western Kansas. Due to inclement weather, town halls initially scheduled in Trego, Graham, Sheridan, Decatur, Rawlins, and Sherman counties on Tuesday, February 18, have been postponed. I will still host my town hall in Cheyenne County at 3:45 pm CT this afternoon. To see more of my work across the Big First, follow me on social media. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America— I serve to fight and work to make it stronger. That’s what I am doing while believing our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service, Click below to follow me on social media. Mann.House.Gov The Week Ahead Yesterday, I welcomed Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins to our district during her first official producer visit since her confirmation. Agriculture is the heartbeat of the Big First, and the livelihoods of the men and women in our district depend on sound farm and food policy that provides certainty as they work day in and day out to feed, clothe, and fuel the world. I enjoyed introducing Secretary Rollins to the Big First District; touring Finney County Feeders, High Plains Ponderosa Dairy, and National Beef; and hosting a roundtable with agricultural producers across the state. I look forward to working with Secretary Rollins and the Trump Administration for sound policies that work for Kansas farmers, ranchers, and agricultural producers. Kicking off the Fourth Annual Mann Listening Tour If it matters to a Kansan, it matters to me. This week is the official start of my fourth annual listening tour with 15 town halls in western Kansas. My team and I are working to reschedule the Trego, Graham, Sheridan, Decatur, Rawlins, and Sherman counties town halls at our earliest convenience. You can see more information on my town hall schedule or stay up to date to find out when I will be in your county by visiting the Mann Listening Tour page of my website. I've also bookmarked the page below. Town Hall Schedule Honoring National FFA Week Happy National FFA Week! This week, current and past FFA members will reflect on the impact of the National FFA Organization and its role in shaping the next generation of leaders in food and agriculture. Those of us who have had the honor of wearing the blue jacket understand the lasting impact FFA has on molding, shaping, and equipping young leaders to succeed. Across the country this week, more than one million FFA members will fulfill our motto – ‘Learning to do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live, and Living to Serve’ through service projects, educational showcases, and engagement in their communities. As a past chapter FFA officer from Quinter, Kansas, proud FFA alumnus, and founder of the Congressional FFA Caucus, I'm honored to introduce this resolution. National FFA Week Paying Tribute to American Airlines Flight 5342 January 29 is typically a day of celebration in Kansas. From Manhattan to Goodland, Topeka to Liberal, and Kansas City to Dodge City, Kansans come together to celebrate the rich history of Kansas and the anniversary of our statehood. January 29, 2025, changed the meaning of this day for Kansans forever. Last week, I gave remarks on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives in remembrance of the 67 passengers of the American Airlines Flight 5342 crash. Audrey and I continue to be devastated, and we are praying for the victims and their families. It is our prayer that God will continue to provide comfort to their families, communities, and loved ones. Psalm 34:18 says, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” There will be a lot to uncover in the days ahead, but for now, we join Wichita, our beloved Kansas, and the nation in mourning the lives lost. Kansas is the heartbeat of the country, and as our state motto reminds us, we will persevere, together, through this difficult time. Holding the Cartels Accountable Last November, 77 million Americans, including myself, gave Washington, D.C. a mandate to bring common sense back to the nation's capital. The last administration ushered 16 million illegal immigrants into the country without any formal vetting or background checks. Too many innocent Americans have paid the price for illegal immigrants breaking our laws and trying to evade detention. One life lost is one too many. I voted for the Agent Raul Gonzalez Officer Safety Act, which holds illegal migrants who threaten the safety of our communities accountable. Under this bill, individuals operating a vehicle within 100 miles of the southern border while fleeing from border patrol agents or law enforcement will be held criminally responsible and prohibited from receiving legal status in the U.S. We need to send the cartels and human traffickers a clear message — if you risk the lives of American citizens, you will be held accountable. I hope the Senate will quickly consider this legislation. Fighting for Home-Grown Energy Sources Ethanol is an available, affordable energy source in our own backyard, and our use of it promotes American energy independence and an all the above energy approach. That's why I cosponsor the Nationwide Consumer and Fuel Retailer Choice Act which would enable the nationwide sale of ethanol blends up to 15 percent year-round. Our legislation would help lower gas and energy prices while supporting our farmers and agricultural producers. We need commonsense policy solutions that drive down costs for American families and prioritize America's energy independence. Ending Abortions By Mail President Biden was the most pro-abortion president in our nation's history. When he took office, his administration loosened requirements for chemical abortions and greatly expanded the ability to send abortion pills by mail so women could order abortion pills online and perform abortions with no medical supervision. Our bill corrects this wrong by making it a federal offense for abortion providers to send these life-threatening pills without providing in-person care before, during, or after an abortion. The federal government should be in the business of saving lives, not putting more lives at risk. Standing for the American Flag We live in the greatest country on Earth. Earlier this month, President Trump issued a one flag policy, which bars U.S. outposts from flying flags other than the United States flag at home and abroad. I cosponsor legislation to certify President Trump's policy and ensure that no radical future Administration will have the ability to disgrace the American flag on federal public buildings ever again. Recognizing Gold Shield Families Last week, I joined several of my colleagues in introducing legislation to recognize the service and sacrifice of police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, correction officers, emergency dispatch officers, and emergency service providers who have tragically lost their lives in the line of duty and their families. Our first responders put their lives on the line to serve their neighbors and their communities. Their families also make noble sacrifices that often go overlooked. The freedoms and livelihoods that we enjoy are not free, and we are deeply indebted to the brave men, women, and families who put their lives on the line to protect them. Meetings In the Office Kansas Bankers Association Last week, I met with Kansas Bankers Association during their visit to Washington, D.C. We spoke about the importance of regional banks and the crucial support they give rural communities and farm economies like those in the Big First District. Rural America needs less heavy-handed regulations from Washington, D.C. that impede our livelihoods. Thank you, Kansas Bankers, for stopping by! National Business Aviation Association The National Business Aviation Association represents more than 10,000 companies and professionals across the aviation industry, including several associations in Kansas. I met with their President and CEO, Ed Bolen, who graduated from the University of Kansas. With seven commercial airports in the Big First, safe, timely, and effective air travel is critical to our region’s economy and connectivity. It’s always great to see Kansans leading the way in aviation, advocating for an industry that supports businesses, farmers, and rural communities across our state. Cloud County Community College I visited with President Knoettgen and Vice President Wood from Cloud County Community College during their trip to our nation's capital. During our meeting, we discussed Cloud County Community College’s facility expansion to build out their agriculture, nursing and welding programs. Community colleges are an essential part of our education system in Kansas. Thank you, President Knoettgen and Vice President Wood for paving the way for the next generation of Kansans to prepare for their careers. GATX Corporation Freight rail is critical to Kansas’ economy, helping to move goods efficiently across the country. GATX plays a key role by providing and modernizing freight railcars, ensuring that businesses, farmers, and manufacturers have the reliable transportation they need. We discussed the importance of increasing competition within the freight rail boxcar system and how smart policies can strengthen the industry for the future. A strong rail network benefits rural communities across Kansas, and I’ll continue working to support infrastructure that keeps our economy moving. Stryten Energy Stryten’s Salina plant is the company’s largest facility and plays a key role in producing reliable energy storage solutions while continuing to invest in improvements and innovation. We need strong businesses that create jobs, drive economic growth, and help provide reliable energy in Kansas. Thank you, Stryten for all you do! Hill's Pet Nutrition The Big First is home to some of the crown jewels of the animal health corridor. Hill’s Pet Nutrition is one of those crown jewels, and I am appreciative that they met with me during their visit to the nation's capital last week. Thank you, Hill's Pet for your commitment to the animal health corridor and all you do to serve Kansans – and our pets! Skookum Skookum is a national leader in disability and veteran employment with two facilities in Fort Riley and Milford. During their visit, we spoke about the importance of job opportunities for veterans with disabilities and the need for Congress to empower the career development of our nation's veterans. I will always fight to ensure our service members and veterans are supported.     Visiting Washington, D.C.?
