Hey John -
The past few weeks have been filled with terrible loss and pain. George Floyd, an unarmed African American man, was suffocated to death by a white police officer in Minneapolis, MN. George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, and countless other members of the black community had their lives cut short by systemic racism and police brutality. People across the United States have marched and engaged in civil disobedience as a result of the institutional and societal racism that has left communities of color traumatized and heartbroken that their side of the social contract has been violated.
We have a responsibility to speak up against everyday injustices and lift up voices that struggle to be heard. The Arlington Young Democrats stand with marginalized communities in the fight against systemic racism and will continue to uplift the accomplishments and voices of people of color.

AYD is phone banking for Takis Karantonis! Join us Friday, June 5th at 7 pm where we will be calling voters to remind them of the special election, encourage them to support Takis, and apply for an absentee mail-in ballot.
Takis is the Democratic nominee for the County Board Special Election on July 7. With Arlingtonians social distancing, limited GOTV efforts, and Takis facing two opponents, the campaign is taking an all-hands-on-deck approach in order to keep the seat blue.
Phone Bank Sign Up: www.mobilize.us/arlingtondems/event/274290/
We will also be hanging out via Google Meet to go over training, hang out, and to support one another!

If you can’t make it, you can also phone bank on your own time any day of the week from 9am - 9pm!
