MODERNIZING FIRE PREVENTION EFFORTS

Image

Our brave federal firefighters fight tirelessly to mitigate wildfires, which have been a growing threat across our nation. It’s critical to equip our firefighters with the tools, resources and benefits they need to conduct effective wildfire management and recruit and retain the best talent. That's why I'm pleased to co-lead the bipartisan Modernizing Wildfire Safety and Prevention Act, which is a comprehensive package that enhances our wildfire prevention strategies, improves response times and addresses workforce challenges. We must ensure our firefighters are better prepared to face these increasingly severe threats and give our courageous men and women the flexibility they deserve. Click here to learn more.

PROTECTING AMERICAN AGRICULTURE FROM CCP INFLUENCE

Image

China’s control over essential vitamins and amino acids for animal feed poses a serious threat to our district's agricultural industry, leaving local farmers dependent on imports to sustain livestock production. This reliance jeopardizes our food security and exposes our supply chains to potential disruptions by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). That’s why I’m proud to cosponsor the Securing American Agriculture Act to counter the CCP’s influence and boost domestic production. It directs the Secretary of Agriculture to assess vulnerable supply chains and provide actionable recommendations to mitigate potential threats.

HONORING THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF CHAIRMAN CYPRESS

The recent passing of Chairman Billy Cypress, the longest-serving Chairman of the Miccosukee Tribe, is a tremendous loss. He was a visionary leader who dedicated his life to the sovereignty and prosperity of his tribal community. Elected to the Business Council in 1973 and serving as Chairman for over 26 years, he expanded the Tribe’s self-governance, secured funding for vital services and championed the creation of Miccosukee Resort and Gaming. His efforts protected the Everglades and preserved Tribal culture through the Miccosukee Indian Village and Museum. Known for his humor and generosity, Billy’s legacy of leadership and dedication will inspire generations to come.
