DNC Sues Trump Over Illegal Executive Order Threatening Free and Fair Elections.

We know there’s a lot of news happening right now, so we wanted to make sure you didn't miss this.

Three weeks ago, Trump signed an executive order claiming that he gets to decide how independent agencies like the Federal Election Commission (FEC) interpret the law. The FEC, which Congress created after Watergate to regulate how money is raised and spent in federal elections, was designed to be bipartisan and insulated from the political whims of the White House.

In this country, we are guaranteed fair elections with impartial referees — not a system where Trump can hand down his preferred campaign rules from his perch in the White House. This executive order is a grave threat to this guarantee.

The DNC is fighting back. Alongside the DCCC and DSCC, we’ve filed a lawsuit against Trump to stop his hostile takeover of the FEC.

For the future of our democracy, it’s absolutely critical that we not cede the institutions that safeguard our elections to Trump and his MAGA Republican allies. That means using every tool at our disposal — including aggressively confronting Trump’s illegal actions in the courts — to defend voters’ right to free and fair elections.

Thank you again for your support as we fight back against Trump to protect our democracy.

Thank you,

The Democrats
