Meeting with Georgia Peanut Leadership Academy
Georgia is a leader in peanut production, with peanuts contributing over $790 million to our economy annually. Our state relies on strong peanut farmers, and I had the pleasure of meeting members of the Georgia Peanut Leadership Academy last week in D.C.
The Peanut Leadership Academy is an education project coordinated by the Southern Peanut Farmers Federation, and sponsored by Syngenta Crop Protection and the American Peanut Shellers Association, to develop leadership skills and industry understanding for Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia peanut growers and sheller representatives.
These fine farmers represent our state well and work with other states to advance American peanut production through this program.

Meeting with Groups Ahead of the Farm Bill
As Vice Chair of the House Agriculture Committee, I make it a priority to meet with various stakeholders and producers who are impacted by the Farm Bill to ensure that their priorities are considered as we draft this critical legislation for our state and nation's farmers.
Last week, I met with representatives from Southern Cotton Growers, the domestic sugar industry, and Georgia's food banks for their input on policies related to the Farm Bill.

Meeting with Georgia Association of Broadcasters
I also had a great meeting with the Georgia Association of Broadcasters to hear how they are working to keep our state informed on local and national news through TV, radio, and more.
