Friend,
Too often, Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) teams witness patients unable to access lifesaving medical care because it is simply too expensive. Globally, the number of people who cannot get the treatment they need is significant: One quarter of the world's population lacks access to essential medicines.
That’s why a cornerstone of MSF’s work is providing care to any patient who needs it, often in some of the world’s most hard-to-reach places. We are committed to bearing witness and speaking up to break down the barriers that prevent people from accessing medical care.
Just last year, through our Time for $5 campaign, MSF and partner organizations protested at the International AIDS Conference to demand that US medical test maker Cepheid reduce the price of HIV, tuberculosis, and hepatitis C tests to less than $5 each. Research shows that by selling each test for $5, Cepheid would continue to make a profit, while making critical diagnostic tests more accessible for all.
MSF will keep fighting for increased access to medicine, vaccines, and diagnostic tests to ensure all people can receive medical care. If you agree that everyone should have access to the medicines they need, add your name today to make your voice heard.
