In ‘Michael Sheen’s Secret Million Pound Giveaway’, the Hollywood actor details how he has helped write-off a million pounds worth of debt for people in the region where he grew up to try and force change on the system.

The scale of personal debt here in the UK has ballooned in recent years, in part, because of the cost-of-living crisis. More and more people are borrowing or using credit cards just to pay for everyday essentials.
Right now, over 10 million people in the UK are heavily in debt, that’s one in seven of us.
With lenders making massive profits it’s more important than ever that we speak out to change the system and try and get debts cancelled.

Explaining why he got involved, the actor said,
** “People are getting into spirals of debt. Once underwater it’s very hard to get out again. There are alternatives, and we need to try and push to make a difference for people.”
