Man Accused of Attempting to Assassinate Trump Appears in Court Among Evidence Dispute

Daily Wire: The man accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump on a golf course in September appeared in federal court on Friday where his attorneys claimed that the government was withholding evidence. The attorneys made the arguments at the Alto Lee Adams Federal Courthouse in Fort Pierce in front of Judge Aileen Cannon, who is presiding over the case. Ryan Routh was charged in September for the alleged attempt as he hid on the golf course at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach while the president was playing. The defense requested to test fire the rifle that Routh had with him at the golf course, arguing that it may not have been in good enough to condition to fire a long-range shot (Daily Wire). CBS12: The trial is scheduled for September, with Judge Aileen Cannon presiding (CBS12).

Trump Adds Additional Stipulations on Student Loan Forgiveness Programs
Townhall: President Donald Trump has taken a bold stance on student loan forgiveness, announcing that individuals with ties to illegal immigration and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) protests will not be eligible for federal student loan relief. This decision aims to ensure that taxpayer-funded assistance is directed toward those who meet legal and ethical standards, sparking debate among critics who argue that such restrictions unfairly target specific groups. On Friday, Trump updated a public student loan initiative that directs the Education Department to modify the program to deny loan relief to individuals who have broken immigration laws, participated in unlawful protest activities, taken part in actions his administration deems “improper” activities, and foreign terrorist groups (Townhall). Election Wizard: President Donald Trump has overhauled a public student loan program, introducing strict new eligibility criteria that bar individuals who violate immigration laws or riot during protests (X).

Free Press: The Trump administration is cutting off $400 million in federal funding to Columbia University, claiming it has failed to take steps to confront antisemitism on campus after Hamas’s October 7, 2023, attack on Israel. The cuts represent the federal government’s first round of grant cancellations for Columbia, according to the administration’s newly formed antisemitism task force, which is leading the effort. Columbia has over $5 billion in active federal grants that are being reviewed by the government (Free Press). Bari Weiss: Trump Administration Cancels $400 Million in Grants to Columbia. CBS Reporter Visits Border, Finds No Illegal Immigrants
CBS: On a recent afternoon, CBS News accompanied U.S. Border Patrol agent Claudio Herrera along this rugged stretch of the U.S. southern border. Herrera said the area, located within Border Patrol’s sprawling El Paso sector, has long been a hotspot for the illicit movement of people and drugs. But the situation there has changed markedly in recent weeks (CBS). Charlie Kirk: CBS border and immigration reporter Camilo Montoya-Galvez is SHOCKED that he didn’t see a single illegal during his trip to the border: “We did not see a single migrant or asylum seeker, and typically when we go to the border we at least see one group of people trying to cross into the US illegally.” “We saw soldiers, Border Patrol agents, National Guard troops, vehicles, and barriers, but NO MIGRANTS.” The border is officially closed. Thank you, President Trump (X).

House Republicans Introduce Bill to Avoid Government Shutdown
Associated Press: House Republicans unveiled a spending bill Saturday that would keep federal agencies funded through Sept. 30, pushing ahead with a go-it-alone strategy that seems certain to spark a major confrontation with Democrats over the contours of government spending. The 99-page bill would provide a slight boost to defense programs while trimming nondefense programs below 2024 budget year levels. That approach is likely to be a nonstarter for most Democrats who have long insisted that defense and nondefense spending move in the same direction. Congress must act by midnight Friday to avoid a partial government shutdown (Associated Press). Collin Rugg: Republicans are taunting Democrats to vote against the CR, which avoids a government shutdown, after Dems just 3 months ago went on a media parade about how dangerous a government shutdown was. On Saturday, Trump called on the House & Senate to vote ‘Yes’ on the CR (X). Rep. Andy Harris: Congress must keep the government open so that DOGE can continue to eliminate waste, fraud and abuse in our government. This continuing resolution is necessary to advance President Trump’s agenda (X).

JD Vance: Today while walking my 3 year old daughter a group of “Slava Ukraini” protesters followed us around and shouted as my daughter grew increasingly anxious and scared. I decided to speak with the protesters in the hopes that I could trade a few minutes of conversation for them leaving my toddler alone. (Nearly all of them agreed) (X). Collin Rugg: Vance was heard calmly dealing with the old liberal females as they screeched about Ukraine (X).

Libs of TikTok: Margaret Brennan tries to emotionally blackmail DHS Secretary Kristi Noem about “separating families.” Noem expertly shuts her down with FACTS. In addition to Biden actually ignoring immigration law, parents make a decision to break laws which ultimately can separate them from their children.
