John,
If Donald Trump’s strange statements about Elon Musk’s knowledge of Pennsylvania’s voting systems made you uneasy, you’re not alone.
As an ally of Free Speech For People, you probably know that we have been raising alarms for more than two years about the unauthorized access and misappropriation of voting systems and software by Trump allies and election deniers following the 2020 election.
This was the largest and most serious breach of election system security known, yet it was never addressed or investigated on the national level. Dominion Voting Systems even said that if Trump’s partisan actors got copies of its voting software, it would do “irreparable damage” to national election security. Nothing was done to investigate the multi-state plot, or to mitigate the “irreparable damage."
Because of this unprecedented breach of election security, we, with a group of leading computer scientists, urged Kamala Harris to initiate recounts of paper ballots in contested states, rather than just rely on results generated by computers running the misappropriated software.
Following the election, most of the press was too timid to report on our letter, until now. We’re happy to share with you this excellent piece from Drop Site News that describes our letter, the voting system breaches, and why recounts and rigorous, public audits of paper ballots are so essential, yet are not being done. We hope you will read and share it.
We will continue to shine a light on these security breaches and to fight for recounts and audits in all elections.
In solidarity,
Susan Greenhalgh
