VoteVets, first and foremost, is an organization aimed at supporting Veterans. At the end of the day we are focused on improving outcomes and care for all Veterans, regardless of their politics.

If someone signed on to serve — no matter when, no matter the branch, no matter the ribbons on their chest, no matter who they voted for — it’s our fundamental belief that our country has a moral, ethical, and legally binding duty to care for them.

As you read this, that obligation is being abandoned.

Over the last week we’ve heard story after story of Veterans kicked to the curb by the Trump administration and the richest man on earth. Disabled Veterans fired from VA hospitals. VA staff, employed for years, terminated because they switched jobs. Veterans who served in uniform, employed by the Department of Education or USDA or Forest Service or National Parks — thousands of them fired.

These aren’t parasites. They are your friends, neighbors, and family.

They even fired folks working the Veterans Crisis Line. Remember when everybody cared that 22 Veterans took their lives every day? Trump and Elon just fired some of the people tasked with answering the phone.

There’s no time to waste. Lives are on the line. Each of us has to decide if we’re going to fight for everything we’ve worked for or let Trump and Elon take it all away.

VoteVets is going to be on the front line of that fight. We might not be able to stop every single thing they try to do, but we sure as hell are going to make them regret it.
