EMILYs List is committed to building women's political power so they can use it when it matters most, John.
And right now, having strong pro-choice women leaders in office is critical. As the Trump administration continues its relentless assault on our rights, and billionaires treat our democracy like a game, it's Democratic pro-choice women in Congress who are standing on the front lines and fighting back. They're defending reproductive freedom, protecting democracy, and advocating for real solutions that benefit every American.
Our 16 freshmen representatives, elected this past November, are already proving they can deliver for the American people. They come from all walks of life: they are physicians, attorneys, climate activists, small-business owners, and lifelong public servants. Many worked retail and food service jobs to put themselves through school. Some come from working-class backgrounds, and some are proud members of the LGBTQ+ community.
Rep. Maxine Dexter (OR-03) ran to bring a pro-choice physician's voice to public policy. Rep. Luz Rivas (CA-29) founded DIY Girls to empower young women in STEM. Rep. Maggie Goodlander (NH-02) served as counsel for the House Judiciary Committee during Trump's first impeachment trial. Rep. Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03), the youngest woman ever elected to the Phoenix City Council and the first Iranian American to represent Arizona in Congress, was previously the vice mayor of Phoenix.
These women aren't just making history — they're defining what comes next for our party and our country. But extremist Republicans, billionaire donors, and anti-choice special interests are working around the clock to stop them.
The fight for 2026 has already begun, and we're ready.
