Recently, we have seen countless attacks on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs. The rhetoric, perpetuated by President Trump, is not only offensive but will shrink our workforce exponentially.
President Trump and the GOP have gone on a tirade for weeks that DEI programs are the reason behind any issue our country faces. We know what he means when he says DEI, though—he means people of color.
As the Representative for NY-07, I have spent my entire career celebrating diversity and promoting more inclusion in the workforce and beyond. Now, the Republican Party is using diversity as a scapegoat to explain the housing crisis, the economy, plane crashes, you name it.

New York City—and the United States of America—has always been a melting pot of different backgrounds. Instead of celebrating these new perspectives, the GOP is villainizing anyone who doesn’t look like them.
