John,
Every morning, there is news from D.C. that makes our jaws drop with disbelief. This morning, for instance, the top headlines are: " High-ranking D.C. federal prosecutor resigns in protest" & "Trump nominates January 6 activist to serve as top DC prosecutor" & "How Elon Musk is boosting far-right politics across the globe."
With the endless stream of headlines and bad news coming from Washington, our work to secure our majorities here at home matters more than ever. Colorado Democrats are setting the example for what it looks like to push back on Trump’s corrupt agenda, to fight for working people, and to make our state a better place to live and work.
Here are some highlights from our Democratic elected leaders here in Colorado:

Democratic Speaker Julie McCluskie made clear that "supporting families is a top priority" in this new legislative session. [[link removed]]
The first ten bills introduced by Democrats cover a range of issues dedicated to supporting families: from cutting the cost of housing, increasing access to health and mental health care, meeting Colorado’s climate goals, and strengthening our state’s economy to create better paying jobs.
While the Trump administration is laser-focused on giving handouts to billionaires, including a literal $400 million handout to Tesla for Elon Musk’s cyber trucks, Democrats are prioritizing working families and individuals.

Democrats are working to shield Colorado consumers from the abuses of corporate power, from junk fees to deceptive trade practices – which have contributed to the high costs of living and making everything feel out of reach.
Meanwhile, Republicans are working to hurt our kids by defunding public schools and limiting our freedom with bans on books they don’t like – Colorado Democrats are ready to invest in our children by funding our schools, paying our teachers, and protecting the freedom to learn.

Democratic State Senators, led by Senate President James Coleman, are working to pass the "Freedom to Read" bill [[link removed]] - ensuring the next generation of Coloradans are not subjected to book bans or any other form of censorship attempts by insecure Republicans. Democrats will continue to uphold Colorado’s value of providing every child the opportunity to receive a quality education.
Attorney General Phil Weiser is "preparing a legal blitz to block President Trump's actions from hurting Colorado" [[link removed]] which includes filing lawsuits targeting the administration's regressive efforts on environmental protections, criminalizing abortion, and further breaking our immigration system.
Secretary Jena Griswold continues to remain at the forefront of defending our democracy by ensuring Colorado’s elections remain the gold standard in an era where the right to vote is threatened daily.
While the federal government is looking for ways to roll back economic protections, Democratic State Treasure Dave Young is hard at work returning nearly $2 billion in unclaimed property back to Coloradans. [[link removed]]
Despite the challenges we face, Colorado Democrats are working to advance the interests of our working families by passing bills that will lower costs, hold corporations accountable, and ensure our children get the high-quality education they deserve.
As a party, we’re focused on electing more working-class Democrats throughout Colorado in 2025 and 2026. Will you join us in this effort, John? >> [[link removed]]
