Hey, it’s Marcus, Political Director here at Espy for Senate.

I’ll just be honest: Building a campaign for change right now is very difficult. I know everyone always says this, but these are unprecedented times. Now more than ever, we’re counting on the people to raise money for our grassroots campaign.

Instead of knocking doors, we’re sending texts. Instead of in-person events, we’re doing Zoom roundtables. And instead of hosting big in-person events, we’re finding other ways to make an impact and have hope during this difficult time.

Just yesterday, Mike and the rest of Team Espy helped at a volunteer event at a local church in Jackson, Mississippi. Part of the USDA Farmers to Families Food Box program, we helped distribute fresh produce to fellow Mississippians hurting during this pandemic.

Mike handed out hundreds of boxes of food and connected with local community leaders (all while wearing our masks and maintaining a safe distance, of course).

We even found a few new Team Espy supporters. They were eight months old.

This is the reality we face: Our May fundraising deadline is tonight at midnight. Our resources come from donations to emails like this one, and the last time I checked, we’re less than $5,000 short from where we want to be.
