John, it’s Congresswoman Sarah McBride. I’m reaching out today about something really important:

You may have heard that I recently gave my first speech as Delaware’s Congresswoman on the floor of the House of Representatives. And you may have also heard that the Republican who recognized me when I came to the podium used the moment to refer to me as the “Gentleman” from Delaware, “Mr. McBride.” A thoroughly unoriginal schoolyard taunt against trans people.

When I arrived on Capitol Hill this year, I showed up ready to work for the people of Delaware -- NOT to talk about what bathroom I use or personal insults from the other side. Republicans are trying to use trans people as pawns in their anti-worker agenda. And I refuse to be a pawn. I refuse to give them that power. I refuse to let them get away with it. That’s because while some folks on the other side of the aisle seek to divide us, I ran for Congress to focus on what brings us together.

Now, John, I’m no stranger to mean spirited attacks from MAGA extremists. I was the very first transgender state senator in the country, and now I’m the first ever transgender member of Congress. Trust me when I say, I don’t lose sleep over what MAGA extremists think of me.

What I do worry about is what extreme MAGA Republicans are trying to do RIGHT NOW: Cut Social Security, gut Medicare and Medicaid, shut down the Department of Education, and much more. These attacks won’t silence me from doing everything I can to stop Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s unconstitutional power grab, but we need more allies in this fight.

John, attacks on me from right-wing extremists won’t stop me from fighting for you -- and every American -- day in and day out. But if we want any hope of stopping their MAGA agenda, we need to flip the House blue and put an end to the Trump Trifecta. That’s why I’m reaching out.
