House and Senate Square Off in GOP Battle of the Budgets |
by Suzanne Bowdey |
There's a lot more separating the House and Senate than the Capitol dome - at least in the Republican Party. The distance between the two chambers is getting wider with every step of the budgeting process. In the race of who-can-deliver-President-Trump's-agenda-first, the GOP has been butting heads over strategy for weeks, an intra-party duel that's produced two very different pieces of legislation. But if the competing sides of Congress agree on anything, it's that something needs to get to the president's desk - and soon. |

Agencies Bear Much of the Blame for Government Waste |

'Extremely Online': The Significance of J.D. Vance's Social Media Presence |
by S.A. McCarthy |
Vice President J.D. Vance is a "first" in many ways in the vice presidency: Vance is the first U.S. Marine Corps veteran and the first Catholic convert to hold the office, as well as the first man with a beard to hold the office in over a hundred years. Notably, Vance is also the first millennial to attain the vice presidency. This means that the 50th vice president grew up and came into adulthood during the advent of mass internet use and the pioneering days of social media; platforms like MySpace and Facebook were in their infancy as Vance reached the early years of adulthood. The incumbent vice president maintains an active presence on social media - a surprisingly active presence, in fact, making the second Trump administration arguably the most accessible in generations. |

What Does the Bible Say about Foreign Aid? |
by Joshua Arnold |
Christians who are otherwise like-minded can experience different reactions to the Trump administration's skeptical posture toward publicly funded foreign aid. Some wish the federal government would continue supporting international Christian aid organizations, while others judge taxpayer dollars better spent here at home. While Scripture speaks with perfect authority, it does not address every issue with equal attention or clarity, and on this issue, Scripture provides no specific instructions. However, this does not mean that the Bible says nothing relevant to the wisdom, prudence, or morality of foreign aid. |
