You can make a meaningful gift directly to a qualified charity (up to $105,000) per year from your IRA without having to pay any income taxes on the money. While withdrawals from traditional IRAs are taxable income, qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) are not and can satisfy some or all of your required minimum distribution if you are age 73* or older. QCDs can also be used whether you take the standard deduction or if you itemize deductions. But QCDs do not qualify for charitable tax deductions. *Note: The SECURE ACT 2.0 raised the age to start taking required minimum distributions (RMDs) from 72 to 73 starting in 2023. Learn more. Get Started In the News Funding cuts leave domestic violence survivors trapped with their abusers "For a survivor of domestic violence, this funding could mean the difference between having a roof over their head or getting evicted; the difference between having someone who understands a cry for help in their own language or being silenced, with no one who can understand their life-threatening circumstance. It could mean the difference between subsidized child care (and keeping a job) or being unemployed and homeless. These are complex challenges that survivors struggle with for many months, sometimes years to rebuild their lives—even when trauma resurfaces, triggering old wounds and derailing stability." Read More Extreme weather’s dark aftermath: a rise in domestic violence "Our analysis shows that there's an increase in intimate partner violence two years after a disaster, and that this is correlated with certain types of disasters – specifically storms, landslides, and floods." Read More Black women face high domestic violence rates, but stigma keeps many silent, support groups say "So many times, especially as Black women, people don't hear us. They don't see us. And we find ourselves in spaces where we're the only [Black] person either in school, at work, walking down the street, in a restaurant, anywhere. We find ourselves isolated. We heal in community and so being able to come together is just really important for us to find healing." Read More Donate to Doorways Share This Email Share This Email Doorways | P.O.
