Howdy John, it’s Shad.
Over the weekend, I published an op-ed outlining a path forward for Democrats that calls on our Party to refocus on working people, the heartbeat of our Party, and being unafraid to champion our pro-freedom values of being able to live a safe and successful life no matter who you are.

In 2024, Colorado was a “blue island in a red wave.” Thirty counties, including GOP strongholds, shifted towards Democrats. We maintained our majorities in the state legislature, and Colorado Democrats enjoy double-digit approval leads over our national counterparts.
The fact remains: Democrats suffered tough setbacks, and we’d be foolish to ignore clear warning signs of people believing that the Republicans represent the working class and poor – something clearly wrong based on Trump and the GOP’s attempts to slash funding for things like school lunches, veteran services, and grants that support job creation and building infrastructure.
At this perilous moment in our country’s history, our Party can unify this country with a positive vision of success for working folks while holding irresponsible actors – from negligent and corrupt politicians to megacorporations that invest in stock buybacks over bigger paychecks – accountable.
We can slash taxes and fees on working people and small businesses while making sure the wealthy pay their fair share, and we can defend our freedom to marry who you love, manage your own health care without government interference, and get paid well for your work.
We can take on the dark money special interests who play games with our politics, and we can make sure the next generation of Democratic leadership has a clear runway to take the reins.
Together, we have an opportunity to live up to our highest values by unapologetically standing for them as Donald Trump consolidates power, gives handouts to his billionaire supporters, and puts his interests above yours.

These times demand that Democrats acknowledge these realities and take a bold stand on these issues for our communities and working families.
To reclaim our standing, we must fearlessly redesign and rebuild the Democratic Party. We must stand firm with workers, farmers, ranchers, small businesses, labor organizers, immigrants, students, and all those who want to live safely and have an opportunity to get ahead. That’s a Democratic Party we can believe in.
If you want to help us create a Democratic Party that brawls for our communities, join us today. We could use you in the arena >> [[link removed]]
